Job Summary:

About the Role & Team 

The Security Investigator is part of a team that is responsible for a variety of investigative activities at the Disneyland Resort (DLR) and its associated properties. You will be conducting investigations on matters including workplace violence; suicide ideation; fraud, theft; employee misconduct; policy violations; intellectual property loss and theft; physical property theft; and cybercrimes. You will also be leading threat assessments and developing threat mitigation plans, partnering with other DLR business units, within and outside of Security, to conduct comprehensive investigations and develop investigative protocols, response, investigative strategies, and preventative measures for workplace safety and security incidents.  Additionally, you will be assisting external agencies, including, but not limited to the FBI, Secret Service, District Attorney, City Attorney, and local law enforcement, with criminal investigations. The Security Investigator will ensure a timely response to all DLR security issues, in compliance with Company, union, state, and federal policies.

You will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays in accordance with operational hours.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Security Investigations.

What You Will Do: 

  • Independently conduct complex investigations into unlawful activity and violations of company policies and procedures in an efficient, thorough, and professional manner.  

  • Prioritize multiple investigative tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining positive collaborative relations with various partners.  

  • Conduct threat assessments and provide options for threat management strategies.  

  •  Author detailed professional reports and maintain well-organized and accurate Incident/Case files, showcasing proficiency in integrating security measures across various business units.  

  • Conduct professional investigative interviews of employees and others, often involving sensitive subjects, with advanced skills in conducting thorough and efficient investigations.  

  • Be flexible with work hours to respond to urgent issues and to the situational needs and requirements of the workload, showing a track record of successful collaboration.  

  • Maintain strict discretion and confidentiality, exercising discretion and maintaining confidentiality in sensitive matters. 

  • Work both independently and with other investigators on initiatives for security and investigative enhancements and process improvements, leading initiatives and projects with significant impact on security protocols.  

  • Interface, as necessary, with executives concerning ongoing investigations and related investigative matters. 

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement agencies and with counterparts in the industry, contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security operations.  

  • Partner with other DLR business units to develop and implement employee training to maintain awareness and minimize incidents, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility. 

  • Experience with Security Operations or Security Investigations. 

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. 

  • Proficiency in internet and open-source intelligence research. 

  • Experience in fundamental business skills and proficiency in standard office software programs, such as word processing and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior corporate security or law enforcement experience. 

  • Investigative experience to include conducting interviews; locating, reviewing, and analyzing data; conducting investigative research in physical security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control); preserving evidence; and producing cohesive and thorough written reports. 

  • Experience in behavioral threat assessments. 

  • Cyber security awareness and experience in conducting computer related investigations. 

  • Experience with producing basic statistics and case analysis data in a standard case management system.

Education: 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $95,500.00-$128,000.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
