Role Overview
The Localization Specialist, Thailand, is responsible for end to end management of localization workflows—including translation, dubbing, subtitling, and audio post production—for Disney content in the Thailand market.
This role owns the creative and technical execution of localized assets, working closely with local studios, voice talent, internal creative partners, and global DCVI stakeholders to ensure localized versions are authentic, culturally resonant, technically excellent, and consistent with original creative intent.
The Specialist will operate with a high level of autonomy, accountability, and judgment in a fast paced, high volume content environment.
Key Responsibilities
Creative & Localization
- Partner with the Manager to drive creative localization decisions, including voice casting, translation review, and participation in dubbing, musical, and vocal recording sessions as needed.
- Ensure localized performances preserve original intent while resonating naturally with Thai audiences.
- Review, evaluate, and approve subtitles for linguistic accuracy, timing, readability, and cultural relevance.
- Drive consistency of terminology, character intent, and creative choices throughout the localization lifecycle.
Production & Technical
- Oversee dubbing, vocal recording, editing, and quality control at approved local studios.
- Attend and approve Printmasters and final mastering QCs (on site or remote).
- Provide informed technical feedback on audio quality, vocal balance, mix integrity, and dubbing performance.
- Support marketing localization efforts, including trailers, promos, from both creative and technical perspectives.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate closely with localization vendors and studios to ensure delivery meets creative, technical, and timeline expectations.
- Maintain regular communication with Business Units and DCVI stakeholders across SEA, London, and Burbank.
- Monitor and support legal and contractual processes related to star talents and production partners.
- Assist with budget tracking and cost control, ensuring localization spend aligns with approved objectives.
Data, Systems & Process
- Maintain accurate project information and deliverables across internal systems and databases (e.g., Bolt, Lilo, Wonderland, Keysafe, Ariel).
Experience & Professional Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of experience in post production, sound production, or media localization, preferably with dubbing heavy content.
- Strong working knowledge of dubbing and sound post production workflows.
- Hands on experience with Pro Tools and a solid understanding of audio engineering, recording, and mixing fundamentals.
- Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to creative, production, and non technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required; Thai fluency is assumed for the market.
- Musical background is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and delivery accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
AI & Technology Awareness
- Basic knowledge of AI assisted tools used in localization and post production (e.g., AI supported translation, voice analysis, audio enhancement, or QC workflows).
- Curiosity and openness toward emerging technologies that improve localization efficiency without compromising creative intent.
Brand & Content Awareness
- Strong familiarity with and passion for Disney brands and franchises, including Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, Searchlight, and 20th Century Studios.
- Sensitivity to franchise continuity, character legacy, and audience expectations.
