About the Role & Team:
The Disney Entertainment Clearances team handles many aspects of legal clearances, including those related to marketing, production, and distribution of films and other content released theatrically and via our streaming platforms. Clearance Specialists review film/tv/streaming advertising, marketing, and promotional materials, including AV, digital and print to ensure compliance with clearance guidelines to minimize risk by ensuring that only approved clips, stills, artwork, and other materials are used in advertising, marketing and promotional activities. In addition, Clearance Specialists read and analyze scripts and research reports to identify potential clearance issues and ensure appropriate clearance of names and places, dialogue, artwork, props, costumes, photographs, film/TV clips, mock-up designs, and building/architectural designs.
Some of the job duties include negotiation of agreements with outside parties controlling rights to artwork, photography, footage, and other proprietary material used in marketing and production content. Clearance Specialists also may review websites, bonus content, behind-the-scenes/EPK materials, interviews, bloopers, deleted scenes, trailers, TV spots and other marketing materials, commercial tie-ins, print ads, DVD menus and packaging materials.
What You Will Do:
Under manager supervision:
Review film advertising, marketing and promotional materials, including AV, digital and print to ensure compliance with clearance guidelines.
Consult, as needed, with IP and Production counsel in connection with copyright, trademark, right of publicity, and contractual matters.
Draft and distribute marketing restrictions and summaries.
Draft and transmit releases/correspondence for outside individuals/entities for use of clips, stills, artwork, and other like items.
Review motion picture advertising, publicity, and promotional trailers, TV/radio spots, and print material to ensure compliance with clearance guidelines. Prepare and distribute marketing restriction memos.
Under supervision, collaborate between various clearance, legal and marketing teams on special projects, events and experiences.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
At least two (2) years of experience in marketing, rights, and/or acquisitions clearances preferably for a major film or network company.
Agile and adaptable in utilizing various digital storage databases, and be detail-oriented in maintaining critical data and historical knowledge in these databases.
Strong knowledge of film/TV production, social media trends, digital media marketing.
Knowledge of copyright, trademark, right of publicity, and other legal concepts sufficient to identify and communicate issues.
Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
Comfortable with tight deadlines and fast-paced high-volume workload.
Open mindset to continually learn and adapt.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree is preferred

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $65,300.00 to $87,500.00 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
