Job Summary

The Director of Strategic Insights reports into the Vice President of Corporate Insights. A highly visible team sharing insights with the highest levels of the company. This team sits within the broader Consumer Insights/Research Center of Excellence for Studio, Disney+ and Corporate and works closely with Corporate Brand Strategy and Marketing functions.

The Strategic Insights team focusses on insights/analytics based on consumer behaviours/spending to identify and track growth opportunities that span multiple segments of the company, domestically and internationally. They work in a consultative manner to deliver complex ad hoc research and synthesize a wide array of data and insights to support decision making on strategic opportunities/challenges. This involves working closely with Strategy teams and all parts of the business (Studio, Parks, Retail, SVOD/DTC, etc.) to conceive, design and deliver insights that guide both short and long term strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the primary study in the company that focusses on understanding our customers across all categories of entertainment – domestically and internationally. As part of this, identifying ways to evolve the study to service changing business needs and capture relevant changing consumer behaviors.  
  • Leading custom insights/research projects that support some of the highest profile strategic initiatives in the company.
  • Working with other insights and finance teams to track changes in entertainment behavior and track Disney performance across key sectors.  
  • Conduct analyses to answer key business questions from Executive Leadership and ensure consumer insights are effectively used and integrated into modeling/scenario planning and brand strategies
  • Leading Corporate Reputation Tracking for the Walt Disney Company. Analyzing results of our custom tracking study and other syndicated sources to track and unpack what influences the reputation of the company and how/what we should focus on to change it.
  • Guide the work of and develop a high performing team of 6 (Snr Analysts and Managers).

Skills/Experience

  • 10+ years experience in a market research/consumer insights (focus on quant), consulting, strategy, or analytics role
  • Ability to interpret and integrate insights from multiple data sources into a cohesive narrative
  • Experience creating presentations in PowerPoint that clearly communicate data and research findings
  • Building/developing high performing teams
  • Strong delegation and prioritization skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills and ability to execute quality work within tight deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Mature, enthusiastic, and demonstrates a strong collaborative and consultative approach

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with consumer research (designing questionnaires and analyzing results)
  • Experience with quantitative studies, pricing/conjoint studies, and solid business/finance acumen.
  • Entertainment industry experience highly preferred, but not required
  • Experience using statistical software packages like SPSS or similar is a plus, but not required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Burbank is $163,426-$219,230 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
