Job Summary:

Role Overview

The Director, Production Innovation Technology drives the development, scaling, and operationalization of proprietary, market‑differentiated production platforms and AI‑enabled creative workflows that power Disney Entertainment Television’s premium episodic storytelling. This role applies emerging technology to deliver externally visible creative outcomes, competitive market differentiation, and enterprise‑scale production impact, operating with a product‑oriented mindset comparable to leading consumer technology and platform organizations. Embedded within DET Production Innovation and partnering across creative, engineering, and production technology teams, the Director leads high‑velocity iteration of production platforms that support adoption, performance at scale, and sustained creative advantage in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, own, and scale proprietary production platforms and AI‑enabled creative workflows used in active television productions.

  • Deliver externally facing creative products that differentiate Disney’s episodic content through innovation, quality, efficiency, and scale.

  • Measure success through adoption across productions, engagement by creative teams, and performance at production scale.

  • Partner with showrunners and studio leadership as a senior creative technology leader, translating creative intent into durable, multi‑show product solutions.

  • Lead rapid iteration cycles informed by creative feedback, production demands, and evolving technology—maintaining competitive advantage in the market.

  • Drive adoption through enablement, education, and change leadership, positioning workflows as core production platforms rather than point solutions.

  • Partner with cross‑studio engineering and technology teams to mature experimental capabilities into long‑term, scalable platforms that shape the future of episodic television.

Qualifications & Technical Expertise

  • 7+ years of senior-level experience in creative technology, production innovation, or adjacent environments (VFX, virtual production, gaming, or streaming), with direct impact on customer-facing content.

  • Demonstrated success designing and deploying AI-enabled creative workflows that operate at production scale and support active production.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end production pipelines, including creative decision-making, scheduling constraints, and cost considerations.

  • Hands-on experience working with open-source AI models and production-oriented systems including node- or graph-based workflows such as ComfyUI.

  • Practical understanding of generative systems and neural networks, and how prompting, conditioning, and model architecture affect quality, reliability, and scalability.

  • Advanced Python proficiency for automation, workflow orchestration, and internal tool development.

  • Strong working knowledge of software development concepts sufficient to collaborate deeply with engineering teams and evaluate implementation tradeoffs.

  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical creative and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience driving adoption and change management for new tools and workflows within large studio or enterprise creative environments.

  • Experience working within an innovation lab or applied R&D organization embedded directly in live productions.

  • Demonstrated success partnering across creative, engineering, innovation, and enterprise technology organizations to deliver tools that shape externally visible content.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Film, Visual Effects, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
