Job Summary:

The Studios Legal Affairs Disney Lawyers in Film Training (D-LIFT) Program provides recent law school graduates with an opportunity to be mentored by Studios Legal Affairs attorneys, participate in business and leadership development training, and get hands-on experience on legal matters arising during the course of motion picture development and production with Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Studios, Walt Disney Animation Studios, and other legal teams supporting Studios. 

PROGRAM STRUCTURE:

June 2025 – August 2025:

Participants are engaged on a part-time basis, working remotely 3-4 hours per week, primarily participating in virtual studio immersion sessions and mentoring while preparing to take the July 2025 California Bar Exam on their own time. The summer period culminates in an in-person two-week full-time intensive training program.

September 2025 – November 2025: 

Participants work in-person full time while awaiting the results of the July 2025 CA Bar Exam. Responsibilities include: 

  • Assisting attorneys by doing research, proofreading and some drafting 

  • Participating in business and leadership development sessions  

  • Meeting regularly with assigned mentor for additional 1:1 development 

December 2025 – April 2026:

Participants who pass the July 2025 CA Bar Exam continue the program full time with expanded responsibilities. Other participants intending to sit for the February 2026 CA Bar Exam will be offered the opportunity to remain in the program part time, with work to resume full time immediately following the February 2026 CA Bar Exam.

May 2026 – June 2026:

Participants who pass either the July 2025 or February 2026 CA Bar Exam continue in the program full time with expanded responsibilities. 

PROGRAM BENEFITS:

The D-LIFT Program is an entry-level program designed to provide recent law school graduates interested in the film industry with a unique learning experience within the different areas of Studios Legal Affairs. D-LIFT Associates will participate in work and development opportunities designed to build and enhance key technical and leadership skills necessary to succeed with the many areas of Studios Legal Affairs. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be considered for various opportunities within Studios Legal Affairs and the broader Walt Disney Company.

  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intend to take the July 2025 administration of the California Bar Exam

  • Rising 3L, graduating in May/June 2025 from a U.S. ABA-accredited law school

  • Previous relevant professional experience, ideally working in a law office or studio/media company, including internships 

  • Desire for a career in the entertainment business, specifically motion picture production 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to manage confidential information 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment 

  • Capable of managing changing priorities and deadline pressure 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Authorized to work in the United States 

  • Available part time (4 hours/week) from June 2025 and then full time from mid-August 2025 through June 2026 

  • Ability to relocate to the Los Angeles area not later than August 15, 2025


The pay rate for this role in California is $41.40 per hour.
