Department/Group Description:

The Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team at The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) oversees the Company’s progress towards its 2030 Environmental Goals focused on emissions, water, waste, materials, and sustainable design.

The team partners with key corporate functions and business segments (including Global Public Policy, Parks & Resorts, Cruise Lines, Movie & TV Production, Consumer Products, etc.) to help develop pathways to the Company’s goals and then guide and oversee their implementation.

As aggregators of Enterprise-wide environmental performance data and initiative inventories, the team has a big-picture oversight role to help reduce Disney’s environmental impacts, manage environmental risks, and pursue environmental opportunities. Beyond stewarding the goals, the team strives to influence a culture of environmental responsibility across the company.    

About the Role

The role will focus on establishing more formal Enterprise-level Project Management processes and tools focused on The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) environmental goals. A successful outcome for the role is a comprehensive, clear, and ongoing understanding of work being undertaken and considered across the company and the actual and potential impact on TWDC’s emissions, water, waste, materials and sustainable design goals. This includes details on all initiatives, financial and environmental impact metrics and past and future projected performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

Engage with key leaders across the company to create and maintain a master inventory of major Environmental Initiatives that are driving progress to all environmental goals.

Design and assist in implementation of a process to track progress and status of these Environmental Initiatives across the company

Establish and ensure use of a consistent taxonomy for work categorization and descriptions that supports both business needs for analytics and allows disclosure in line with multiple regulatory frameworks including but not limited to the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, EU Taxonomy, SEC Climate Rule etc.

Work with designated internal stakeholders in finance, environmental sustainability, environmental integration and others to apply consistent methods to calculate forecast/actual capital and operating costs, forecast/actual economic benefits from environmental  initiatives.

Work with designated internal stakeholders in technical environmental roles across the company to develop and apply consistent methods to calculate forecast/actual environmental benefits associated with environmental initiatives.

Manage Enterprise Environmental Sustainability department ongoing spending and annual operating plans. Provide input to long term financial planning and support deployment of a Capital Fund dedicated to environmental sustainability.

Develop business requirements for an IT system to house data for all Environmental Initiatives and assess range of potential software platforms. In collaboration with key stakeholders, recommend software platforms to be implemented and participate in training to existing and new partners across the company.

For key initiatives, assist in creation of detailed project plans for key initiatives led by the Enterprise Environmental Sustainability Team. Help drive progress on these centrally managed initiatives through regular review and maintenance of project plans and updates.

Participate in project to work with internal stakeholders and external consultants to design data visualizations for Environmental Dashboards including metrics, data, and priority initiatives lists.

Support the Environmental Sustainability team leadership to conduct periodic review and governance of initiatives that may be high cost, low benefit, and where alternatives may exist, and report these findings.

Mandatory Requirements

Experience with corporate financial reporting and analysis Software: Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet or equivalents

Desirable Requirements:

MBA Environmental sustainability experience Environmental credential Project / Program Management credential

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Project Management 5+ years of private sector experience focused on project or program management


The hiring range for this position in Burbank. CA is $113,800.00 to $152,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A full range of medical, financial, and/or other variable pay or benefits, may be offered dependent on the level and position offered.
