Department/Group Overview:
The Corporate Internal Communications & Engagement team is responsible for elevating the employee experience through robust communication strategies and storytelling designed to inform, engage, and inspire employees – our most passionate brand ambassadors. The team supports the enterprise corporate communications and other functional support areas in enhancing the company’s reputation with key stakeholders, including employees, consumers, prospective talent, and press.
Role Overview
The Manager, Employee Communications & Engagement will develop and execute internal communications projects and campaigns that engage and inspire a multi-national, multi-lingual workforce of 200,000+ Disney employees. Reporting to the Director/Senior Manager, Employee Communications & Engagement, the Manager will support and execute enterprise internal communications from creative ideation to implementation, for the HR Function, including Benefits and Total Rewards, L&TS, Talent Acquisition, People Insights and Corporate HR.
The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and communicator who is able to quickly establish relationships, draft content and plans, get the needed approvals from key partners, and implement with various partners throughout the organization. The role is a great opportunity to bring new ideas and different ways of communicating to employees across the company about the different HR initiatives, programs, policies and resources.
Responsibilities:
- In partnership with the Senior Manager and Director, develop and implement enterprise employee communication plans that are creative, inspiring and help contribute to a positive employee experience
- Research, write and draft engaging HR content and editorial for internal communication vehicles including emails, newsletters, leader guides, videos, presentations, signage, social and executive engagement needs for HR and Corporate partners
- Work with HR partners to draft messages, narrative, and positioning to build awareness and understanding of key programs, policies and initiatives for leaders and employees.
- Connect HR communication plans to ongoing editorial calendars and company initiatives when possible
- Support HR partners by working closely with them to understand business needs and drafting initial communication plans and content
- Track metrics and tap into other data analytics to help inform communications planning, while also using metrics and data to adjust plans in progress as necessary.
- Connect regularly with segment communication peers to understand their segment internal communication needs and plans to better draft and develop enterprise HR plans
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or executive communications
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with maturity and confidence in working with colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability in drafting and implementing communication strategies
- Self-motivated communications professional who can manage workloads to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment
- Ability to take sometimes complex HR topics and distill them into simple and engaging content
- Detail oriented with excellent grammar skills, along with an eye for design
- Well organized and trustworthy with a high level of discretion
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint/Keynote, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SalesForce and other technology solutions for communication needs
Required Education
- BA or BS required, preferably with a background in Communications, Journalism, or Public Affairs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both internal and external communications as well as speechwriting
- Experience in working with content management systems (WordPress), HTML design, and managing other social media and communication applications
- Basic understanding of design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $111,000 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
