The Global Emergency Preparedness & Response Department is a global, enterprise-wide function focusing on emergency and crisis planning and training operations for all major security and natural hazard events impacting The Walt Disney Company and is also comprised of L.A. based fire and L.A./N.Y.C. based medical operations. It sits within the Global Security Division and its mission is to ensure The Walt Disney Company is prepared for, responds to, and recovers from emergencies.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Responsible for the strategic oversight and support to ensure all U.S. TWDC properties have a mature Building Emergency Response Program
- Implements programs that facilitate the readiness of local teams to respond to emergencies.
- Ensures all response procedures are compliant and in line with trending industry standards.
- Responsible for collecting KPIs for all U.S. TWDC properties and preparing reports for senior leadership.
- Responsible for the hazard specific planning/preparedness initiatives for the major local L.A. campuses (Burbank Studio Lot, Grand Central Business Center, Prospect Studios, Hulu Campus, etc.), including but not limited to earthquake planning, active threat response planning, mass casualty medical treatment area planning, campus evacuation planning and similar regional hazard planning. This includes but is not limited to plan writing, exercise planning and facilitation, and after-action reviews.
- Responsible for the strategic oversight to the employee emergency communications framework for U.S. properties
- Maintain the Burbank Studios’ Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in a perpetual state of readiness, including conducting weekly systems checks, development and maintenance of documented activation protocols, and management of facility or technology enhancements as needed to support EOC activations.
- Oversees Florida and NY based personnel in maintaining local EOCs.
- Ensures consistency and alignment with program standards by planning and facilitating all corporate campuses’ emergency response exercise programs, including Unified Incident Command Team trainings and exercises – in partnership with regional UICT Standard Operating Procedure owners, TWDC CERT Program exercises – in partnership with the TWDC CERT Program Manager, and Building Emergency Response Team exercises (e.g., Great ShakeOut Drill, Fire Drills, etc.) in partnership with appropriate stakeholders.
- Responsible for the Emergency Supply Program, including but not limited to ensuring regular inspections, inventory cycles, and enhancement assessments are being conducted at the L.A., NY, and Orlando campuses. Periodically, strategically evaluates supplies to ensure they are in line with response plans.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of emergency planning experience
- 3+ years of supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability and willingness to learn additional software/applications to support the Global Emergency Preparedness & Response mission
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to gain stakeholder buy-in and influence without authority
- Can work with little or no supervision with the additional ability to work in a teamwork environment
- Ability to think outside the box and recommend program or operational efficiencies
- Knowledge and ability to work under the Incident Command System
- Experience in Crisis Management, Emergency Management, and Disaster Preparedness
- Knowledge of and/or experience working in a global highly matrixed organization
NICE TO HAVE:
- Knowledge of Community Emergency Response Team programs
- Knowledge of the Motion Picture / Television industry
- Maintain current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid
- CEM, CBCP, ARM, CSP, CPP, or similar certifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, Public Affairs, or related fields
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $113,800 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
