We are seeking a paralegal to join Disney’s Corporate Legal Copyright Administration Group. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the copyright registration, recordation, and administration of our expanding original global content. This role is under the supervision and guidance of a Director and will provide exposure to and the opportunity to work with the creative departments that produce content for Disney+, Hulu, Star, Walt Disney Pictures & Animation, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, ABC, Hollywood Records, Disney Theatrical Productions, and others.
This role is based in Burbank, CA.
Responsibilities
- File copyright registrations and recordations with the US Copyright Office.
- Review production agreements, schedules, databases, and other reference materials to confirm the chain of title and information required for copyright.
- Secure and review physical and digital content for copyright registration purposes.
- Communicate directly with creative, legal, and business segments involved with developing and producing content.
- Perform research, prepare reports, investigate, and resolve registration inquiries.
- Populate and manage copyright data, images, and information in the Copyright Administration databases.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years in a paralegal role preferably with studio/copyright registration experience or 2 years at a law firm.
- Detail-oriented, with excellent verbal, analytical, and listening skills.
- Ability to independently manage one's workload, with discernment on when to seek assistance as necessary.
- Capacity to hold oneself and others accountable for results.
- Experience in reviewing agreements and confirming chain of title.
- Proficiency in multitasking within a demanding, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
- Conceptual thinker exhibiting excellent judgment.
- Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
- Ability to take direction and propose relevant solutions as needed.
- Experience in reviewing agreements and confirming chain of title.
- Quick learner with a strong emphasis on client service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other office-related software.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree and/or qualification to be a paralegal by certification or education and work experience as set forth by the American Bar Association and any applicable state codes.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $34.13 to $45.72 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
