We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with deep Snowflake and data‑platform experience to ensure the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of modern analytics and data systems.
This role blends core SRE principles with hands‑on Snowflake expertise. You will be responsible for keeping data platforms available, performant, secure, and cost‑efficient, while enabling data engineering and analytics teams to move fast with confidence.
What You’ll Do:
Snowflake Reliability & Operations
Own the operational health, availability, and performance of Snowflake environments supporting analytics and data workloads.
Define and implement reliability goals (SLIs/SLOs) for Snowflake and data‑platform services.
Monitor Snowflake usage, performance, and concurrency to proactively identify risks and bottlenecks.
Lead incident response for Snowflake‑related production issues, including performance degradation and availability concerns.
Automation & Platform Engineering
Automate Snowflake administration tasks such as:
Account and environment provisioning
Role‑based access control
Resource and warehouse management
Usage and cost monitoring
Build infrastructure‑as‑code and policy‑as‑code solutions for Snowflake and supporting cloud services.
Reduce operational toil by building self‑service workflows and guardrails for data teams.
Observability, Cost & Governance
Implement monitoring and alerting for Snowflake performance, query behavior, and system health.
Partner with stakeholders to drive cost optimization, usage governance, and capacity planning.
Improve security posture through least‑privilege access, auditing, and compliance‑aligned controls.
Collaboration & Enablement
Partner with data engineering teams to support reliable CI/CD pipelines for data workloads.
Work closely with analytics, platform, and security teams to ensure Snowflake is reliable by design.
Contribute to operational standards, documentation, and best practices for data platforms.
Mentor engineers and help mature SRE practices within the data ecosystem.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Systems Engineering roles.
4+ years of hands‑on experience administering Snowflake in production environments.
Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, including compute, storage, virtual warehouses, and security.
Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, SQL, Bash).
Experience operating in cloud environments (AWS preferred).
Experience supporting data pipelines or analytics platforms in production.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DBT, Airflow, or similar data orchestration tools.
Strong background in Snowflake cost optimization and usage governance.
Familiarity with data security, compliance, and access‑control models.
Experience applying SRE principles specifically to data and analytics platforms.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $141,900 to $190,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
