Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and leading a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also leads technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Distribution Operation team is looking for a Sr Content Operations Manager –Title Clearance & Ratings who will be part of the Distribution Operations team in Burbank, CA. This role will be responsible for owning the title clearance requirements across 26 languages and ratings management for all titles that will launch on Disney+ and Hotstar globally as well as various aspects of ratings system setup, requirements gathering for ratings values and descriptors and implementation. The role will require a tight-knit collaboration with multiple global teams across the company.

The ideal candidate will have validated experience in content metadata management and execution and in working through complex processes with multiple partners. They will be proactive to find solutions and make the right connections with people in order to problem-solve. They will be savvy with data visualizations and systems in order to present title status and summaries. They will not be afraid to innovate new paths or influence to get agreement from partner teams or raise up issues when needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the titles clearance requirements across 26 languages for all new (non-theatrical) titles that are being serviced to Disney Streaming and Hotstar. This includes titles that are identified as Disney+ Originals, TV Currents, Specials/Documentaries/Docu-Series, and Hulu Features
  • Implement end to end process for title clearance including process kick-off, coordinating feedback from the territories, communicating nuances and legal/localization restrictions, liaise with legal teams on clearance, navigate and resolve legal issues raised
  • Work with cross-functional Marketing partners to ensure legal clearance is received to meet accelerated timelines to align with planned Marketing beats
  • Lead training for local territory contacts and partners on process and standard methodologies to mitigate challenges
  • Identify and handle the requirements gathering process for in-territory ratings systems with our internal partners
  • Collaborate with the internal product and platform technology teams to ensure ratings requirements are accurately supported through supply chain and in product
  • Work with local Ratings and S&P/Compliance teams in various regions across the organization (EMEA, LATAM, APAC) to communicate upcoming titles for review, update ratings in the D+ metadata system and handle S&P / Compliance review to ensure content readiness on the platform
  • Effectively communicate project and title level updates cross-functionally and with our internal and external partners for ratings and title clearance
  • Able to build and lead title trackers for status monitoring and reporting
  • Input ratings into proprietary metadata system and work with partner teams to request delivery through proprietary delivery system

Basic Qualifications

  • 7 years experience in operations, running legal clearance, or compliance
  • Outstanding data and project management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a regular cadence to wide audiences on overall project health
  • Strong attention to detail!
  • Has a global approach and sensitive to other cultures
  • Comfortable using various data management systems and tools (Excel, Google suites, AirTable Smartsheet, etc.)
  • Ability to solve for the short term while constantly thinking of sustainable long-term plans
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Legal degree or ability to understand legalese related to content
  • Experience working with global teams
  • Streaming service experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $111,900 to $136,700 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
