Development Manager

The Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Business Team champions new business development projects and growth initiatives diversifying the Disney Parks, Experiences, & Products portfolio and delivering incremental revenue and OI. The team has accountability for delivering the end-to-end consumer experience and defining the product standards that maximize long term value for our consumers, cast, and shareholders. Storyliving by Disney™ was launched in 2022 and Cotino™, the first Storyliving by Disney™ community, will be built in the heart of the Greater Palm Springs area. These master-planned communities are intended to inspire residents to gather, cultivate new friendships, pursue their interests, and write the next exciting chapter in their lives while enjoying the attention to detail, unique amenities and special touches that are Disney hallmarks.

The Development Manager will lead the development of new business products, strategies and standards that support future growth, experiences, and revenue generation for Storyliving by Disney communities. This will be done collectively with key partners and collaborators ensuring we enhance resident life and integrate insights across multiple commercial opportunities. In this role you will stay close to understanding industry trends to spur product innovation and differentiation that will set our business apart. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Emerging Business Product Strategy and Development.

You will:

  • Develop scope, sizing and operational parameter programs for community assets including amenities, facilities, parks, trails etc.
  • Collaborate with Walt Disney Imagineering and design teams to ensure that architectural designs align with site vision, goals, budgets, and timelines.
  • Partner with and represent key functional areas including Operations, Security, Technology, Food and Beverage and Recreation throughout the design and construction process to ensure facilities meet needed requirements, functionality, and adjacencies to deliver seamless experience for our guests.
  • Review and approve amenity designs and shop drawings.
  • Develop and deliver Operator Furnished Item capital and expense budgets inclusive of labor, sourcing, procuring, warehousing and delivery.
  • Anticipate business risks and opportunities; proactively build business plans to shift and substantiate planned revenue growth.
  • Balance a bias-for-action with thoughtful planning to ensure initiatives are experiential and commercially viable while driving the highest value.
  • Cultivate close partnerships within Emerging Businesses and across the Disney ecosystem including Global Business Development, Walt Disney Imagineering, Marketing, CIMA, Entertainment, Operating Participants, Technology, and Finance.
  • Champion a culture of excellence, collaboration, diversity, and innovation.
  • Navigate ambiguity with grace, communicating current state understanding of priorities and deliverables, while assisting with changing leaders and the organization when deliverables and information changes.

You have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated ability and functional knowledge in development, operations, innovation, strategy, or design.
  • Ability to be a creative problem solver, generate new innovative ideas.
  • Desire to work with a new, developing business. Ability to work independently and effectively, while staying positive in a dynamic and ever-changing environment that requires constant flexibility.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo while still building strategic alliances/relationships.
  • Demonstrated program/community development.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated business intuition working with P&L, annual operating plans, and interpreting & communicating data.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness for strategic and critical thinking.
  • Focused thought process that leads to innovation and thoughtful risk-taking.
  • Experience leading a large volume of sophisticated work effectively and efficiently, prioritizing continually to ensure business results are achieved.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Marketing, or other equivalent degree is required.
