Job Summary:

The Director of Logistics is responsible for global logistics transportation, consolidation warehouses, transportation systems and organizational objectives, policies and procedures to provide the flow of information and product for multiple The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) segments and lines of business; optimizing costs and resources while meeting customer service policy commitments. They are responsible for the overall success of our logistics network, ensuring cost-effective solutions, on-time reliable suppliers and services, in line with corporate policies and regional government transport law compliance. They will lead the senior management team responsible for regional N.A., APAC and EMEA shipping program in ~27 countries and ~30 consolidation warehouses, with ~4,000 shippers and 60 contracted partners: for more than 14 lines of business. Responsible for line of business AOP freight budget, services and projects that optimize cost with full ownership of delivering on Client spend and service goals. They are responsible for the logistics systems solutions, accuracy of ~300 system integrations, functional design, user acceptance and an advanced scientific data analytics practice. They are to analyze qualitative service and quantitative annual TWDC transportation spend and propose services and projects through utilization of system tools, processes and resources. Monitor market conditions, innovations and trends, and competitors' performance, pricing and sales strategies to maximize competitive stance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership of logistics operations teams that execute transport of multiple commodities (e.g. merchandise, food and beverage, general procurement, ride parts, fireworks, etc.) from production vendors inbound and/or Disney Warehouses outbound shipment bookings requests, shipment planning, carrier tendering, warehouse scheduling, flow exceptions and provider payments

  • Leadership of logistics systems team that oversee our ORACLE Transportation Management System (OTM), execute enhancements, master data and user interface/experience

  • Leadership of logistics control tower - analytics, data science and flow visibility team

  • Develop strategies, policies, procedures and team to optimize value of the entire function in creating a world-class logistics management group providing exceptional customer service

  • Drive supply chain optimization – focus on top line revenue growth through KPI service levels and response times, while minimizing logistics costs

  • Disney line of business freight Annual Operating Plan budgeting, Cost of Goods Sold freight landing factors and audit and payment for all logistics and trade management brokerage provider services

  • Logistics network flow optimization – lane, hub and flow selection and processes

  • Supply Chain Sourcing partnership for leveraged The Walt Disney Company volume bidding, RFP content

  • Owns business/client relationship: current and future planned volume and spend, strategy, provider selection, cost impacts and signoffs

  • Modes: Parcel Courier and Ground, Special Haul, Ocean, Drayage, Int’l Air, Third Party Logistics (3PL) Consolidation, OTR (over the road) full truck load and less than full truckload, and Rail

  • Carrier and lane allocations, lane forecasts, space commitments

  • Partner Service Level Agreements, Procedure Guides

  • Partner and team performance KPI standards and dashboard program with quarterly performance continuous improvement feedback sessions, corrective action plans

  • Client programs that drive revenue, increase margin and reduce costs (e.g. Retailer wholesale programs at export origin, freight terms conversion programs)

  • Business Continuity Program: Continuously keep abreast of emerging industry risks, changes and innovations through networking, publications and professional organizations to maintain BCP programs that minimize risk

  • Transportation Policies: regulatory standards and policies programs

  • Sustainability: Drive corporate logistics program, includes metrics and improvement goals

  • Apply business acumen and financial rigor to lead new Client management toward decisions that maximize business performance, drive improvements in service, cost or other areas as deemed necessary

  • Conduct deep analysis and derive recommendations of the transportation network, flow and rules-based algorithms that drive logistics decision/flow through the supply chain ·

  • Monitor trends in data science and alternative sources to ensure that Logistics is in tune with best-in-class tools and techniques

  • Investigate technologies/partners and drive solutions to achieve predictive analytics/visibility of our supply chains to our teams and clients

  • Provide leadership and guidance to establish a strong culture of great service, trust, problem solving, innovation, ownership and respect

  • Build the team by hiring and continuously driving training programs, developing great talent

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 7 years progressive leadership experience in supply chain/logistics

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain/Logistics Management discipline or equivalent

  • Demonstrated success in leading, managing and developing staff and high-performance teams

  • Analytics practice experience driving results · Strong interpersonal and leadership skills ·

  • Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions

  • Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Executive team, Procurement, Warehousing, Engineering Services, and Finance

  • Adaptable / Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances

  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of a department (budget prep and review, financial reporting and monitoring freight expenses)

  • Knowledgeable of International Organization of Standardization and Dept. of Transportation guidelines and other applicable transport regulations and requirements for shipping strongly preferred

  • Ability to execute sustainability programs

  • Deep understanding of I.T. management, leading Oracle Transportation Systems (OTM) enhancements, electronic data interchange and how they interact with business teams.

  • ORACLE OTM experience, or an equivalent transportation management system strongly preferred

  • Computer literate.  High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Tableau preferred, and Structured Query Language beneficial

  • Excellent negotiation and contracting experience, market intel for rate benchmarking, space commitments that meet client demand

  • Analytical excellence, with ability to see problems well in advance

  • Customer focus: Understand and monitor the needs of internal and external customers

  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven Leadership skills
