The Disney Cruise Line Security team is at the forefront of response, mitigation, and trend analysis in identifying emerging threats. At Disney Signature Experiences, we elevate the skills you've acquired in the classroom through immersive, hands-on work experiences.

Disney Cruise Line Security is a team that is on the forefront of mitigating threats through educating employees, identifying and analyzing trends and customizing training to address threats.

This internship position is based in Orlando, Florida.

What You Will Do

As a Disney Cruise Line Security Intern, you will support the team with current projects, applying creativity and practical experience to tackle security challenges. You will learn how to provide:

  • Investigative Support: Assist in investigations regarding violations of International Maritime laws, the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act (CVSSA), and workplace safety protocols.
  • Threat Assessment and Mitigation: Learn the steps in conducting threat assessments and contribute to the development of effective threat mitigation strategies.
  • Cross-Unit Collaboration: Work alongside various business units within and outside Disney Cruise Line Security to create comprehensive protocols, response strategies, and investigative plans for workplace safety and security incidents.
  • Proactive Incident Management: Collaborate with business units to establish proactive measures for incident reporting and prevent security breaches.
  • Interagency Collaboration: Partner with maritime security investigation teams, and local, federal, and international law enforcement to facilitate investigations and promote preventative initiatives.
  • Investigation Assistance: Under direct supervision, collaborate with investigators on complex cases, conduct interviews, and analyze data to detailed investigations.
  • Research and Reporting: Conduct investigative research on physical security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control), preserve evidence, and produce comprehensive written reports.
  • Documentation and Organization: Compile detailed professional reports and maintain accurate and organized incident case files.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Collaborate with investigators on security enhancements and process improvements.
  • Executive Interface: Collaborate with senior team members to engage with executives on security and investigative matters, as necessary.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Research Proficiency: Demonstrate an inquisitive approach with experience in research and preparing detailed, factual documents.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in internet and open-source/social media research, with a basic understanding of computer systems and networks.
  • Business Insight: Possess fundamental business skills (e.g., budget management) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel).
  • Communication Excellence: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Discretion and Confidentiality: Maintain discretion while handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Task Prioritization: Effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while encouraging positive client relations.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and sustain effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Behavioral Threat Assessment: Interest or academic experience in conducting behavioral threat assessments.
  • Cybersecurity Awareness: Knowledge or experience in conducting computer-related investigations and cybersecurity.
  • Statistical Analysis: Experience in producing basic statistics and case analysis data.
  • Project Management: Practical experience in project management.

Education

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Criminology, International Relations, Homeland Security or a closely related field

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • This internship is from January 2025 through June 2025
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney Internship or Program
  • Be aligned with The Disney Look appearance guidelines
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to provide own housing and reliable transportation for work in the Orlando, FL area
