As the Groups & Event Services Manager for Disney Cruise Line you will oversee the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of group services across Disney Signature Experiences, including Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, and National Geographic Expeditions. In this dynamic leadership role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to manage high-profile, large-scale group bookings, custom cruise itineraries, and exclusive events. Your expertise in event logistics, client relations, and operational execution will be key to delivering exceptional guest experiences while ensuring seamless coordination between shoreside and shipboard operations.
The Groups & Events Services Manager will report to the Manager, Groups and Event Services and will sit on-site in Celebration, FL.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of hourly Cast Members, providing guidance to ensure high performance and operational excellence.
- Develop and manage custom cruise itineraries for group bookings and full-ship charters, aligning with client needs and operational resources.
- Respond to and manage Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions group reservations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Oversee client communications and manage contract negotiations for Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions group bookings, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Lead planning and execution of Disney Cruise Line Agent Education Programs (AEPs) and Trade Familiarization (FAM) cruises, ensuring successful delivery and brand alignment.
- Coordinate multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and maintain quality.
- Manage financials for Disney Signature Experiences (DSE) groups, including budget oversight, expense tracking, and reconciliation.
- Foster strong working relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and partners, promoting collaboration to achieve business goals.
- Enhance partnerships with shoreside and onboard operators, ensuring seamless coordination for enhanced guest experiences.
- Adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities while maintaining high service and operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the cruise line industry, group sales/services, or event management within the travel industry.
- Minimum one year of leadership experience in a formal or informal capacity.
- Proven project management expertise, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Experience with contract negotiations, sales agreements, and managing budgets, including tracking and reconciling expenses.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams at all levels.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with shoreside and shipboard partners.
- Comprehensive understanding of both shoreside and shipboard operations.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams), and familiarity with reservation systems, CRM platforms, or travel booking software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all business matters.
- Travel may be required for this role.
- Open to working flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, to support a 7-day-a-week operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for The Walt Disney Company.
- Minimum one year of leadership experience managing direct reports and cross-functional teams.
- Possess a valid Passport.
- Familiarity in SeaWare Main, SeaWare Touch, AffairWhere, and Certain.
- Experience with Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, or National Geographic Expeditions, and an understanding of their operational structures and guest experiences.
- Background in group sales, contract management, or event planning within the cruise, hospitality, or travel industries.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Education:
- Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Event Leadership, or a related field.
