Job Summary:

Position Summary: The Supervisor will facilitate workflow and equipment issue resolution, communicate on-air issues to leadership, and participate in projects. May work as a high-level operator as needed on live productions while supervising a team performing similar technical functions. Must resolve employee conflicts, conduct quarterly performance reviews, timesheet reconciliation, hiring, training and staff development, enforcement of all departmental SOP’s and company policies and initiatives. Build relationships with Directing and Production partners to ensure shows air as intended and address any concerns in the moment. The supervisor will implement processes to develop peak efficiencies in personnel development, facilities, and staffing requirements of the studio team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily assigned productions and personnel while operating in a particular job discipline.
  • Set priorities for and coach team members to ensure readiness and operational needs are met.
  • Impacts the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of your own team and its contributions to the larger organization.
  • Use suitable judgment to identify and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems.
  • Use tact and diplomacy to exchange information and manage sensitive issues.
  • Apply understanding of how the team relates to other associated areas to improve efficiency.
  • Required to remain current in respective technical areas of responsibility as well as expand knowledge for support and coverage of other functional areas.
  • Team up with production colleagues to meet content requirements, work closely to schedule, troubleshoot, and monitor the physical facilities and staff assignments.
  • Require full understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own specialty and general knowledge of other specialties.
  • Responsible for developing quality control initiatives and supporting efficiency in operations.
  • Evaluate the performance of all assigned employees, conduct quarterly performance assessments, and administer annual reviews for assigned staff members.
  • Make recommendations regarding corrective measures and adjust personnel and facility schedules to satisfy changing programming demands while maintaining maximum flexibility. 
  • May be asked to supervise the implementation, installation and integration of new equipment and workflows.
  • Implement training programs to improve efficiency and competency of the operating staff. In this regard, supervisors suggest methods of improving the quality of work performed by staff and maintaining awareness of industry developments.
  • Ensure adherence to all departmental SOP’s and company policies and initiatives.
  • Interface with applicable Programming and/or Production representatives in the planning stages to ensure the efficient provision of facilities and personnel to achieve desired results.
  • Collaborate with crews and staffing through late night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of production operations or related experience.
  • Has in-depth understanding/background in Studio Operations job roles in Studio or Media/Editing functions.
  • Knowledge of the workflows and equipment associated with production control rooms, including audio consoles, video switchers, routers, signal converters and tie lines.
  • The ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines is critical.
  • Candidates must have good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Proficient in business protocol and procurement techniques, as well as in-depth understanding/background in Studio Operations job roles
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.  

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical School degree in communications, electronics, television production or related field.

Position requires the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.


The hiring range for this position in [location] is $100,100 to $134,200per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
