The Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Japan Producer is the Disney Creative team leader responsible for ensuring that all design services projects, either produced by the Owner/Third party and so on, support the Disney Brand and the vision and story of the existing venue. The Producer oversees a variety of projects at varied levels of complexity, manages the execution of Creative deliverables and collaborates with WDIJ and Walt Disney Attractions Japan (WDAJ) leaders to achieve common objectives. The Producer is the point of contact and liaison between The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) partners, WDI counterparts, WDI Japan, WDAJ and the Owner/Third Party as it pertains to executing local project work. The Producer is the day to day team leader, overseeing team assignments and priorities for all WDIJ work including Design Services, Show Quality Standard (SQS) Control and Project Support work.
The position is a one-year contract position with a renewal of up to three years. The position may be changed to a permanent role after three years, dependent on factors such as the performance of the employee as well as the business needs of the company.
Primary Responsibilities
With general guidance from the WDIJ Executive:
- Liaison between TWDC partners, WDI counterparts, WDI Japan, WDAJ LOBs and the Third Party Owner as it pertains to executing local project work.
- Manages Design Reviews, internally and externally.
- Oversees review of Special Events, Marketing, IP/Synergy initiatives
- Locally coordinates as liaison projects managed by Glendale (i.e. Sponsorships.)
- Ensures that SQS efforts (operations approval requests, maintenance driven requests, and Attraction/Park Ops projects) are efficiently assigned to the SQS team for implementation.
- Ensures that the Owners/Third Parties and WDAJ leaders are acquainted with the WDI Japan Workflow, and which team they should submit requests to.
- Actively engages with the Owner/Third Party to understand work forecast, effectively distributes work, seeks additional outside resources if needed.
- Accountable for all requests, proactively prioritizes, communicates status appropriately to internal and external parties, and meets deadlines.
- Oversees team assignments and priorities, working with the WDI Japan Executive, for all WDIJ work including design review and related services, SQS and Project support.
- Responsible for ensuring that all design projects, either produced by the Owner or by the WDI Japan team, support the Disney Brand, the vision and story of the existing venue.
- Manages the execution of Creative deliverables and collaborates with WDI Japan (WDI Glendale and WDI Asia when assigned) and WDAJ Leaders to achieve common objectives.
- Responsible for ensuring that the project’s approved design is achieved and maintained within the guidelines determined by the WDI Japan Executive (WDI Glendale Creative Leader if assigned), Art Director, and/or Creative Lead, throughout its implementation.
- Guides and articulates the concepts and experiences that define the creative vision and to motivate the team responsible for providing input to support its development.
- Ensures that the team has the information they need to execute their work efficiently and effectively.
- Focus on completion of creative deliverables and develops work around plan to manage risk.
- Interfaces with Owner/Third Party Project Managers, Creative team members and Operations leaders.
- Implements Owner/Third Party contracts.
- Coordinates Owner/Third party media/nomenclature/show writing requests and other special projects.
- Documents brainstorming, creative development sessions, design reviews and all external meetings through project completion and distribute notes.
- Sets up and catalogues Creative Deliverable files, including drawings, artwork, in progress and completion photos, on the server.
- Keeps server organized, allowing for team access with the ability to navigate effectively.
- Assists the team and/or Director with Executive Presentation materials/content.
- Produces and delivers presentations, internal and external as needed.
