Disney Entertainments eight-owned ABC stations are multiplatform leaders in local news and information. The only local news station with three downtown newsrooms (Raleigh/Fayetteville/Durham), ABC11 WTVD Eyewitness News provides 45.5 hours of local news every week, serving more than 1 million households in a 23-county area in North Carolina and Virginia. Eyewitness News also provides news, weather and sports information 24 hours a day on ABC11.com, the ABC11 mobile news app and the new connected TV app.

Job Summary:

Our ideal candidate is passionate about creating high impact content that resonates with a diverse audience. The candidate has a deep understanding of utilizing all the resources, tools, and live elements to deliver an energetic and compelling news product. This person should be excited to craft their editorial vision to connect and reflect the audience we serve.

Producers must work well with anchors, reporters, assignment editors, writers, directors and graphic artists

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role

  • Produce and manage daily newscasts, overseeing all editorial and production elements while writing clear, compelling broadcast copy.
  • Pitch and develop story ideas aligned with the station’s news strategy, collaborating closely with newsroom and digital teams throughout the day.
  • Execute shows efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including handling last-minute changes under pressure.
  • Bring strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and top-level local news producing experience, with flexibility to work varied and non-traditional hours.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience at a local television news station with strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly to breaking news and schedule changes.

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional newsroom experience. Advance degree is a plus.
