Job Summary:

Pixar Animation Studios Software R&D Department is accepting resumes for our Summer 2025 internships at our Emeryville, CA location in the following areas:

SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN, FOUNDATION TEAM supports Pixar’s artists across the production pipeline, both in content creation and software development, building tools that increase productivity and artistic reach. Engineers on Foundation Teams build software in a wide variety of domains:

  • Production management (Web, JavaScript/Vue/React)
  • Media browsing and playback (Python, Linux/MacOS)
  • Story & editorial departments (Python/C++/Swift, MacOS/iOS)
  • Production asset management (Python/C++, Linux)
  • Configuration/release engineering (Python, Linux/MacOS/Windows)
  • Quality assurance (Python, Linux/MacOS/Windows)

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in university program studying computer science, computer graphics or other area of relevant study. Those within first year after graduation are also eligible to apply for this opportunity
  • Experience in software engineering with a relevant language/platform.
  • Experience working in a UNIX/Linux environment
  • Cross-platform experience using both Macintosh and Linux systems
  • Strong software engineering and testing skills
  • Working knowledge of QA methodology, processes, and tools
  • Excellent scripting language skills, including Python & Shell
  • This is a full-time position. You must be able to work full-time on-site for 12-weeks from Mon 6.2.25 – Fri 8.22.25
  • You must already possess the legal right to work in the United States

Nice to Have:

  • Working knowledge of containerization/cloud technologies
  • Experience with writing and consuming microservices in Python
  • Experience working with 3D applications (Maya, Houdini, etc.)

SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN, RESEARCH TEAM works on solutions for an unknown problem by creating, implementing and transferring new technology related to computer graphics filmmaking. Areas of focus are the following:

  • Machine Learning
  • Rendering (Physically Based and Stylized)
  • Physical Simulation (flesh, cloth, fluids, etc.)
  • Geometry Processing

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in MS or PhD program in computer science, computer graphics or other area of relevant study. Those within the first year after graduating from your MS/PhD program are also eligible for this opportunity
  • Experience in C++ engineering
  • Experience with rendering processes a plus
  • Possess well-developed and proactive communication skills allowing for smooth, results-oriented interactions with different personalities and levels of capability
  • Experience with 3D graphics concepts and applications helpful
  • This is a full-time position. You must be able to work full-time on-site for 12-weeks from Mon 6.2.25 – Fri 8.22.25
  • You must already possess the legal right to work in the United States
