Be Part of the Story as the Associate Product Design Manager Licensed Hardlines Toys for Preschool! This role is responsible for a specific range of products of a single category under general supervision from management / leadership. Building strong peer and team relationships is essential to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines. This role is responsible for infant and Preschool toy design. Experience with preschool toy design is important for this role.  The team member will work closely with our Disney Jr. programing team to create toys for preschool age children that reflect Disney Jr. content and are age appropriate.  A solid understanding of developmental and motor skills for infant and young children and safety limitations is important.

This role reports to the Product Design Manager.

This is a Full Time role.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with Product Design leadership and our Licensee partners to drive development of trend-right, consumer centric product lines that feature market-leading innovation and great price/value for our guest.

  • Execute product and licensed packaging development and approvals through online systems and collaborative approval meetings, ensuring exceptionally high quality standards in character execution, in-depth storytelling, color, material, form and function, as well as assist with onboarding new partners.

  • Develop and design product and packaging mock-ups in partnership with Licensee partners for development milestone meetings, assist with compiling line sheets for line reviews, layout creative presentations for key stakeholder meetings.

  • Collaborate with internal partners (Creative Design, Licensing Commercialization, Global Product Design teams, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, and Cultural Consultants) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, WDI, Licensees and DTR Partners) to design and approve all products.

  • Closely monitor competitors, product innovation and market dynamics

  • Research market trends by category

  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects within deadlines

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Excellent knowledge of the hardlines product and packaging development process (raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition and manufacturing).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid negotiating skills

  • Strong product design skills (e.g. 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, fabric and trim identification)

  • Excellent computer software skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote & MS Office Suite)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with preschool toy design

  • A solid understanding of developmental and motor skills for infant and young children and safety limitations

              

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $94,200.00 to $126,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
