The Merchandise Assistant Buyer will support the Home and Lifestyle department within the Hardlines category and support the development of buying strategies, manage category and item-level briefs, and coordinate samples and product showcases. You will assist in creating and managing product assortments, reacting to in-season trends, and coordinating with various internal and external partners. Your contributions will help ensure that Disney continues to deliver innovative products across its global retail and consumer segments.
You will report to the Merchandise Buying Manager.
This is an onsite position based out of our Glendale, CA or Kissimmee, FL office.
Responsibilities/You Will:
Assist the Merchandising & Buying team with merchandise and buying strategies and assortments.
React to in-season performance and trends to inform future seasons.
Manage category/collection/item level buying briefs to support quarterly needs.
Coordinate samples among key partners and set up rooms for product showcases.
Support the team with assortment strategy and product development.
Handle daily tasks (PO management, inventory tracking), manage the range plan, and coordinate timelines and workflows.
Maintain data integrity for systems and processes related to merchandising and buying.
Execute PLM/data inputs and maintain data for regional lines and licensing pickups.
Provide support for key milestone meetings, including developing presentation decks and product briefs.
Attend cross-functional team meetings to assist with communication input and output.
Basic Qualifications/You Have:
1-2 years of experience in Buying, Product/Brand Merchandising.
Curious and willing to learn.
Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
Effective communication and influencing skills.
Proficiency in data maintenance and integrity.
Proficiency in MS Office particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to coordinate with internal and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with PLM or a product lifecycle management system.
Required Education:
High school diploma.
Preferred Education:
Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $59,600.00 to $79,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
