The Product Designer Sr. is responsible for the daily execution of product design and development of products for the Softline and accessories categories from concept through production working with internal teams and licensees. You’ll Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure we have the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution that build brand equity and meet financial targets.
You will report to Assistant Manager – Mickey’s of Glendale Product Development.
This is a Project Hire position without any guarantee of permanent placement.
What You Will Do:
Lead the design and development of apparel and accessories product lines from concept through production
Own all aspects of the product development lifecycle including ideation, research, sourcing, costing, production, and commercialization
Support delivery of products that meet financial targets for Mickey’s of Glendale
Monitor market trends, competitor products, and innovation to inform product strategies
Partner with sourcing teams and vendors to negotiate and ensure alignment with The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Imagineering standards
Collaborate with internal partners (Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity) and external partners (Studios, Pixar, Lucasfilm, Marvel) to design and approve products
Maintain development timelines and milestone approvals, ensuring projects stay on schedule
Create and manage product data in FLEX (PLM) systems with accuracy and timeliness
Ensure compliance with product safety, reliability standards, and company policies
Actively support securing company assets through effective Loss Prevention, in compliance with company policies and procedures
Foster a positive, creative, and collaborative team environment
Required Qualifications & Skills:
2+ years of experience in product design and development, production scheduling, or project management
Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote)
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills across cross-functional teams
Ability to present ideas clearly and incorporate feedback constructively
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment
Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve product goals
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Prior experience or knowledge of The Walt Disney Company brands (Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, 20th Century, National Geographic)
Experience leading overall strategy for softlines and accessories product categories
Experience with imported goods, vendor partnerships, and global sourcing processes
Experience with PLM systems such as FLEX
Strong understanding of retail trends and consumer product commercialization
A portfolio review is preferred for this position

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $79,400 - $106,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
