Job Summary:

Do you want to be part of the daily newsgathering operation of a 24/7 newsroom? ABC News is looking for a Production Associate to join our Los Angeles Bureau.

Production Associates play a key role in supporting breaking news coverage, field production, live broadcasts, and editorial operations across the country. 

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives under tight deadlines, and has a strong interest in journalism, storytelling, and current events. 

Schedule Requirement: This role requires regular overnight, weekend, holiday, and other non-traditional shifts as part of a 24/7 news operation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support producers, correspondents, and field teams on assignments by coordinating logistics, booking travel, gathering editorial materials, and producing live shots for all ABC News platforms.
  • Book and manage travel arrangements for correspondents, producers, and crews during breaking news events.
  • Monitor breaking news, video feeds, social media, and affiliate sources across the country. 
  • Make and answer phone calls during breaking news situations, helping coordinate coverage and communicate with sources, affiliates, and field teams.
  • Identify, research, develop, and pitch story ideas.
  • Gather and verify information, conduct research, and support producers with fact-checking and background reporting.
  • Log and transcribe video content, interviews, and press conferences.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of one year of experience working in a newsroom.
  • Interest in current events, journalism, and television news production.
  • Strong editorial judgment and news instincts.
  • Excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under deadline pressure and during breaking news situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $54,000 to $72,300 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
