We are seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal to support both legal clearances and transactional matters for Disney’s Consumer Products business (DCP) with an emphasis on DCP’s video game business.  In addition to video games, this role will support licensed and vertical merchandise, publishing, and related marketing and promotional initiatives.  In this role you will work with attorneys and other professionals within Disney Legal and business stakeholders within DCP, including business development, production, marketing, and communications professionals.

We are looking for a candidate who reflects the innovative spirit and creative talent that defines the Disney Experiences segment—the segment that brings the magic of The Walt Disney Company’s powerful brands and franchises—including Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, ESPN, 20th Century Studios and National Geographic—into the daily lives of families and fans around the world to create magical memories that last a lifetime.  This role will be based in Glendale, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Legal clearances, including clearing content for video games and other interactive products, merchandise, and publishing. 
  • Draft a variety of agreements, including video game, merchandise, and publishing license agreements and amendments, services agreements, promotional agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Research, analyze, and summarize video game development and license agreements, talent agreements, chain of title, and other rights-related agreements.
  • Work closely with attorneys, other paralegals, and clients within DCP.
  • Handle other projects as they arise. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree with commensurate experience.
  • Paralegal Certification or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Strong computer skills, including with office productivity software such as Microsoft Word and Excel and familiarity with IP management software and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.
  • Able to work independently, but also a team player who can collaborate well with business clients and colleagues within Disney Legal.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of clearance-related legal and contractual issues.
  • Transactional and drafting experience.
  • Familiarity and understanding of privacy laws, such as COPPA.


The hiring range for this position in California is $84,500.00 to $113,300.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
