About the Role & Team

Are you an expert attorney with a background in media, entertainment, or technology law? We’re seeking a dynamic Senior Attorney to join our team on a 6-month fixed term contract as parental cover.

What You Will Do

  • Draft, negotiate and review production services agreements, content licensing agreements, commissioning agreements setting out scripted series, films and programs for SVOD, AVOD, free to air channel and digital platforms;
  • Work proactively with company’s business affairs, programming, finance, sales and digital teams and producers to acquire new contents;
  • Collaborate with sales, media distribution, studio & marketing, digital broadcasting, news, finance, HR and subscriber growth teams enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing efficient Legal Affairs’ processes and systems while employing standard methodologies;
  • Work closely with the local and regional acquisition teams on the negotiation of global programs with leading global studios ensuring that the terms meet our minimum channel requirements;
  • Remain current on new technologies and rights issues in the media landscape, updating and advising programming & acquisitions; marketing teams of industry;
  • Ensure that user consents, policies (cookies, privacy and terms and conditions) are maintained up to date in accordance with local data protection regulation;
  • Working with the Head of Legal Affairs in creating and maintaining template agreements;
  • Build/be a partner with legal teams in regional offices to facilitate the effective communication of global system;
  • Co-operate as part of a team of lawyers and other business affairs professionals in the region and, as appropriate in other regions required to also support the business in a timely and effective way;
  • Work with the Head of Legal Affairs on developing efficient training programs to advise the business partners in an accurate and relevant matter of legal and compliance risks;
  • Structuring, drafting, negotiating and completing contracts;
  • Give accurate and timely counsel for variety of legal topics (media law, finance, licensing etc.);
  • Ensure all contractual documentation regarding production and all other types of commercial agreements is completed to required standards;
  • Rendering pragmatic legal advice and analysing and resolving legal issues that arise in the day to day operations in all areas of contractual arrangements, litigation, commercial practices;
  • Work with the Head of Legal Affairs to ensure the legal department’s workflows and policies are up to date and implemented across the business units and regularly supervise compliance in relation to relevant workflows;

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with at least 5 years in media, entertainment, or technology law
  • Consistent record in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing sophisticated commercial agreements
  • Strong understanding of content licensing, acquisition, and distribution
  • Detailed knowledge of media law, data protection regulation, and new technologies
  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external team members
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment and prioritise successfully
