The Assistant Manager, External Reporting is responsible for statutory, tax and external reporting activities across Southeast Asia markets.
The role is accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of statutory, tax and external reporting and compliance requirements across Southeast Asia markets with focus in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines, through a combination of work performed in house and oversight of work performed by external service providers, depending on local regulatory requirements and market complexity. 

The role requires experience in external reporting, the ability to work effectively with external auditors, tax agents and service providers, strong accounting knowledge, familiarity with taxation and regulatory requirements, and effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills across local and regional teams.

Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Statutory, Tax & External Reporting and Compliance
  • Be accountable for the timely and accurate delivery of statutory, tax and external reporting and compliance requirements across Southeast Asia markets through a combination of external service providers and preparation work performed in house, with scope varying based on outsource arrangement, local regulatory requirements and complexity.
  • Manage 3rd party external service providers, including but not limited to Capgemini and KPMG, for SEA and review relevant IER computations, filings and reports prepared by those providers.
  • Manage statutory audits and external reporting and act as the key point of contact in SEA if required.
  • Lead and manage tax audits, including managing timelines, requirements, and deliverables with external service providers and tax authorities for Indonesia and be accountable for responding to IER related queries in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines market through internal and external resources.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including management of submission and coordination with relevant authorities and external service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.

Accounting & Closing Activities

  • Perform and/or review tax accounting activities, including reconciliations, tax provisioning, and forecasting
  • Review outputs prepared by external service providers and shared services teams supporting accounting and close activities if applicable.
  • Support legal entity management activities, including maintenance and liquidation of legal entities, as required.

External Service Provider Management

  • Manage external service providers supporting statutory reporting, tax and external reporting activities across SEA markets where applicable.
  • Oversee delivery of services to ensure adherence to agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Review outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance prior to submission.
  • Drive performance and continuous improvement across service providers.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with regional Finance, Controllership, External Reporting and Tax teams on statutory reporting, tax, and external reporting requirements across markets.
  • Act as the primary local point of contact in Indonesia for external reporting matters, including coordination with auditors, tax authorities via service providers where applicable, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts, including Central IER, Tax BP and the Market Controller, to ensure alignment on statutory positions, reporting outputs and compliance requirements.
  • Be responsible for presenting Disney business to tax authorities in local language in in-person meetings, with support from the tax agent who communicates the company position to tax authorities.
  • Support cross-market initiatives related to external reporting, regulatory compliance, and statutory processes

  • External service providers, including local tax firms, statutory auditors, and accounting and shared service providers (in-market and offshore).
  • Tax authorities and regulatory bodies (as applicable, including coordination via service providers).
  • Regional and local Tax, Controllership, External Reporting, Finance and Legal teams.


Experience and Professional Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification: Indonesia CPA license required.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in external reporting, statutory reporting, tax, or audit, preferably within a multinational or regional environment.
  • Proven experience in a Assistant Managerial or supervisory capacity, including oversight of processes and deliverables across multiple markets.
  • Experience in managing external service providers (e.g., tax firms, auditors, accounting providers) and working with shared services teams.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in independently managing tax audits.
  • Experience in managing compliance with regulatory requirements and liaison with relevant authorities.
  • Strong understanding of statutory reporting and tax compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

Skills Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of statutory reporting, accounting standards, and tax compliance requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with well-developed review and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple markets, priorities, and deadlines in a complex environment.
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills across cross-functional and regional teams.
  • Capability to oversee and manage external service providers and ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Sound problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, multi-country environment.
  • Familiarity with various systems and portals related to tax compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, including the ability to present Disney business to external parties in local language.
  • Proficient in English.
