The Character Programs and Development team researches, compiles, and writes content to build Disney Character Foundation Materials for Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm walk-around Characters in a way that is authentic to their story. If selected to be part of the team, you will report to the Character Training Manager.

This is a full-time 6-month internship (dates are January 11th, 2025, through June 7th, 2025).

What You Will Do

At Disney, you will help the team develop and maintain training materials that end users will use as points of reference and to train others. The team also collaborates and supports Character Programs & Development and the Writing Team. We are responsible for developing emerging technology and supplying products, training material, and documentation to sites around the world. Additionally, you will:

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions regarding live entertainment performer training programs, events, and projects
  • Craft in-depth character-related materials, including story summaries and Character motivation, dialogue, and physicality, while under the mentorship of the Character Content Writers
  • Proofread and self-edit drafted materials

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience writing family-friendly stories, dialogue, plays, or other entertainment content
  • Passionate about the Disney brand
  • Able to keep confidentiality when dealing with source content
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word

Preferred Qualifications

It would also be great if you have/are:

  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English
  • Basic Photoshop knowledge
  • Understanding of the production process for developing live entertainment offerings

Required Materials


Portfolio in a PDF form that includes examples of your creative writing style

Education

Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.

  • Currently enrolled as a Junior, Senior, recent graduate, or graduate student
  • Major or previous coursework in Theatre, Creative Writing, or related field

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Program
  • Available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week)
  • Able to provide own housing in the Orlando, FL area and have reliable transportation to/from work (We provide limited housing opportunities for Florida-based Professional Interns through American Campus Communities; for more information, click here)
