Data Scientist (Commercial Strategy)

Our mission as part of the Commercial Strategy organization is to put our data assets to work, and apply quantitative techniques to discover previously unknown insights about our guests and business. We work directly with major decision-makers, shaping the Disney experience. Our insights help form and improve Disney products and offerings.
As an individual contributor, reporting to the Manager of Data Science, you will oversee the creation of complex modeling/tool development, special projects and deep-dive analytics supporting the Commercial organization, specializing in the optimization of Merchandise and Food & Beverage pricing and revenue management.
Position Responsibilities
While each day will be different, with rotating priorities, the main themes for this role include being a(n):
· Data Wrangler: You understand data and how it supports solving business problems.
o Translate business needs into curated datasets
o Develop data pipelines to keep analysis up-to-date
· Analytics Creator: You use data science skills to deliver mathematical models and ad-hoc statistical analyses.
o Uncover insights, test hypothesis, and identify the (possible) WHY
o Develop repeatable models that evolve with the data
· Insights Translator: You interpret outputs of analyses and models to make relevant recommendations.
o Distill analysis into quickly understood Indicators
o Paint a picture with data using data visualization tools
· Pursue Innovation: You always challenge the status-quo
o Research current data engineering, analytical solutions, capabilities, and technologies
o Seek improvement to current methods
· Collaborate: Team up with other data experts
o Work with business partners to identify and unlock opportunities
o Automate workflows and analysis to ensure faster business decisions
o Work with other data teams to improve platform capabilities around data modeling, data visualization, experimentation, and data architecture
Basic Qualifications
You will have…
· Knowledge of data science/advanced analytic concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression, clustering)
· 1+ years of experience developing presentations and reports using quantitative information for non-technical partners
· Proficiency in at least one programming language such as R or Python
· 1+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL programming
· Knowledge of industry-leading data and analytic tools (e.g., Snowflake, Sagemaker, Dataiku, Tableau, Plotly)
· A understanding of microeconomics including elasticity
· Familiarity with automated deployment, AWS infrastructure, Docker, or similar containers
Required Education
· Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Econometrics, Statistics)
Flex Type
This role is considered hybrid, which means you will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $92,900 to $124,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
