Enterprise Technology is responsible for strategy, architecture, engineering, operations, and support of IT for The Walt Disney Company. The Network Operations team holds accountability for the availability and stability of the network services within the Enterprise Technology portfolio. This includes Data Center networks, Wide Area and Metro Area networks, Wi-Fi, end-user LANs, firewalls, WAN acceleration, application load-balancing and a wide array of supporting technologies. We are looking for the next person to join our team!
As a DevOps Engineer within Network Operations, this person would be responsible for crafting, developing, and maintaining network automation solutions and software applications primarily using Python. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with multi-functional teams to understand requirements, implement features, and resolve issues. We will work together to build solutions and approach issues with a creative outlook. It is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is eager to grow and enthusiastically approach new challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications and scripts.
Find opportunities for network automation related to support and implementation.
Collaborate with customers and other developers to collect, define requirements, and craft a solution.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following standard processes.
Resolve and debug software issues, providing timely solutions.
Participate in code reviews and deployment life-cycle activities.
Participate in documentation and knowledge sharing.
Continuously improve software and automation performance and scalability.
Stay updated with new technologies and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Proficiency in Python and understanding of Python libraries and frameworks.
Experience with Git version control system (e.g., GitLab, GitHub).
Experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
Understanding of RESTful APIs and web services.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with web frameworks such as Flask or Django, containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), or infrastructure automation (e.g., Itentials, Terraform, Ansible).
Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Familiarity of computer networking basics and concepts.
Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and SQL.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
