They lead teams that climb to the top of Space Mountain to check on fall protection. They lead teams that make sure our Disney princesses are secure when they wave from a float in the Main Street parade. They lead teams that check the air quality in our kitchens and in the barns that house our horses. Our Manager, Safety Services does a job that is as invisible as it is essential. Do you have the skills to be one of them?

The Manager, Safety Services will be the key technical resource and provide the daily leadership oversight, feedback and development to the salaried and O&T Cast in the implementation and sustainment of crucial safety programs for their designated business. You will use sound technical judgment to perform and lead others in the identification, assessment, analysis and solving of a broad spectrum of safety issues across a diverse group of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts businesses.

You will report to a Senior Manager of Safety.

What You Will Do

On any given day, as Manager, Safety Services, you might:

  • Improve results by guiding the team in the implementation of safety programs, performing job task analysis, analyzing injury and illness trend data, evaluating safety performance, and finding opportunities to improve safety performance.
  • Assign work tasks, provide leadership, gather and combine team input to form recommended action plans and analyze data/trends to guide incident reduction and hazard mitigation.
  • Focus on improving performance, reviewing source material (rules, codes, laws and standards) and identifying and sharing industry practices.
  • Share responsibility with Senior Manager, Safety Services in supporting senior executives.
  • Apply safety standards and able to perform and lead others in resolving complex issues outside of established regulations.
  • Maintain relationships and work as part of a team within a matrix environment with all levels of leadership and employees.
  • Work individually and leading a team in driving above average incident reduction results achieved through the development and implementation of targeted safety strategies and tactics.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:

  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards and best practices
  • The ability to use analytics and identify incident trends
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous situations to solve problems
  • Skills in planning and prioritizing according to business needs
  • Experience with proper technical writing, speaking and influencing at multiple leadership levels
  • Capability to resolve conflict and diffuse difficult situations
  • Consultative and influential
  • Experience in training delivery

Preferred Qualifications

It would be great if you also have:

  • 12 + years of industrial safety experience required in a related field (petro chemical, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, hospitality, entertainment/theatrical, transportation, distribution/warehouse)
  • Basic ergonomic, industrial hygiene and/or food safety experience
  • Experience leading successful teams
  • Bi-lingual language skills

Education

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Education

  • 4 year degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering
  • Advanced degree in Occupational Safety or Safety Engineering
  • Certifications: CSP, CIH, REHS, ARM, CPE, or PE
