The Senior Drafter is responsible for researching, updating, and publishing modifications to our master utility records. This position supports the Utility Mapping department. This role is essential in maintaining accurate utility records.

This role reports to the Utility Mapping Service Manager for Reedy Creek Energy Services.

This opportunity will be an office role based out of Orlando, FL.

What You Will Do

  • Gather and research record drawings for all new utility installation projects.

  • Perform quality control reviews of submitted survey-grade as-built drawings.

  • Research and verify existing utility locations for legacy jobs as required to accurately update the master record GIS database.

  • Edit and populate data in our GIS records via an AutoCAD-based environment using the ArcGIS for AutoCAD toolkit.

  • Work with our in-house plant operations staff to create or update Piping & Instrumention Drawings

  • Work with our in-house engineering staff to provide guidance to outside contractors on upcoming design projects to ensure their drafting compliance and to verify that our CAD standards are being followed.

  • Assist in maintaining template files, standard details, and CAD standards used by outside contractors.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 7+ years of AutoCAD experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • 3+ years of utility drafting and design work or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in map reading.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in utility drafting, plan set production, and P&ID development.

  • Highly organized and meticulous in record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of applicable experience in Engineering, Construction, or utility operations.

  • Ability to update GIS information to accurately represent current utility conditions.

  • Ability to prepare special-purpose maps in the GIS environment.

  • Proficiency in developing the correct form, fit, and function of mechanical or electrical design.

  • Strong attention to detail, research skills, and filtering of records to find relevant information.

Education

  • High school diploma/GED is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable engineering or technology field is preferred
