Job Summary:

The Environmental Sustainability Line of Business is responsible for setting the strategy and leading the planning and development of environmental projects to achieve The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) environmental goals, which include emissions, watershed stewardship, waste, materials, and sustainable design.

The Senior Environmental Professional provides subject matter expertise to inform environmental prioritization, business feasibility and operational readiness.  This role is also responsible for developing strategies to reduce the environmental impact and increase operational effectiveness throughout Walt Disney World focusing on the unique needs of each location, including changes to process, equipment, and commitment, impacting all leaders and Cast. These strategies will maximize the adoption of environmental initiatives including expanding recycling infrastructure, plastics reduction, water stewardship, and energy efficiencies. They will partner with leadership across all operations and business units to implement and sustain programs designed to integrate environmental sustainability into Walt Disney World operations. 

You will report to the Manager of Environmental Sustainability.

This is a Full Time position.

What You Will Do

  • Develop strategic implementation of environmental sustainability strategies in partnership with operations to reduce impact and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Articulate environmental solutions through storytelling, leveraging data to evaluate performance and identify opportunities to enhance sustainability.
  • Tackle environmental challenges by conducting site walkthroughs with area leaders, providing comprehensive follow-up and implementing actionable solutions to promote ongoing improvement.
  • Consult with senior leadership across lines of business, providing subject matter expertise, insight, and strategic direction to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into operational initiatives.
  • Build support for environmental priorities across all levels of leadership at Walt Disney World by engaging and collaborating with global and local partners to share best practices and ensure consistency.
  • Engage and interpret business challenges with complex, diverse partners (including Operating Participants and Disney Vacation Club) to lead, influence, and navigate environmental strategy and funding requirements.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing strategies with the agility to refocus and reprioritize to ensure progress across activities.
  • Experience with framing complex issues into simple and easy to understand concepts, facilitating/presenting, influencing senior leaders, and engaging with all levels throughout the organization. 
  • Experience building and leading strong, trust-based, collaborative partnerships across various stakeholder groups. 
  • Experience in leveraging strong problem solving, project management, leadership, communication and influencing skills to lead culture change and develop a change adoption plan.
  • Ability to spend up to an average 20-30 hours per week doing field work and hosting partners onstage and backstage.
  • Ability to perform field studies, handling waste in a variety of different weather conditions and comfortably lift 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Walt Disney World operations or lines of business interactions with Operating Participants and Disney Vacation Club.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing/implementing sustainability programs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a change management, communications, business or related environmental field

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $88,800.00-$121,900.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
