About the Role & Team

In Retail Reporting, we are primarily responsible for managing the accounting and reporting for brick-and-mortar Disney stores, Disney e-commerce, and the merchandise wholesale businesses. In addition to management reporting processes, we are also responsible for ensuring compliance with the company’s key controls and SOX requirements. Retail Reporting also partners with Finance and Operations to analyze financial results.

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst (SFRA) is an integral part of the Retail Financial Reporting team and is responsible for accounting and reporting for the Direct-to-Consumer Retail (DTCR) business. We are looking for a highly motivated professional who is a self-starter, and able to comprehend the full accounting transactional flow for DTCR's main lines of business. This individual will identify problems and develop innovative solutions to further efforts toward continuous process improvements. In addition, they should be well-organized, meticulous, and able to perform a variety of tasks under strict deadlines. What You Will Do

  • Responsible for accounting and reporting related duties related to the Direct-to-Consumer Retail (DTCR) business
  • Perform account reconciliations and journal entries to support accounting functions for DTCR: i.e. accruals, reclassifications, recognition, etc.
  • Prepare and analyze Profit & Loss Statements and other financial reports for discrepancies and variances. Work with partners to analyze these items to ensure a thorough understanding of differences versus forecasts or prior year
  • Present analysis of financial information to managers and executives succinctly and accurately
  • Review key contracts related to business activity to ensure accurate recognition of revenues and costs from contractual obligations
  • Serve as a controllership representative as part of a cross-functional global team (Operations, Sourcing, Credit & Collections, Finance, IT), leading established processes and data integration flows
  • Support requirements gathering and testing of new IT systems utilizing financial data
  • Lead process improvement on owned processes
  • Perform ad hoc projects in support of the organization and business
  • Synthesize research and findings into concise memos and presentations

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Proven understanding of US GAAP Financial Statements
  • Highly proficient in analyzing financial data in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated partnering, influencing, and communication skills up and down an organizational structure to convey key elements in a concise and professional manner
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work proactively and independently
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and continuous process improvement skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and in crafting high-quality presentations
  • Ability to thrive in an environment that is both strategic and creative, and which requires rapid learning, multitasking, and prioritizing under tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Process Automation utilizing PowerBI, Desktop RPA, Macros, or similar automation tools
  • CPA license
  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise accounting systems

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • MBA, MSA, MAcc equivalent preferred
