The Sustaining Engineering Team Lead oversees and prioritizes work for 4–6 engineers supporting utility operations at the Walt Disney World Resort. This role provides technical mentorship, supervision, and training, ensuring effective communication with both team members and senior leadership. The Team Lead is responsible for coaching staff to maintain workflow compliance, supporting management in assessing technology needs, and recommending process improvements for continuous enhancement.
You will report to the Manager- Operational Services and Strategy.
Responsibilities
Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
Maintain and update system drawings and technical records to reflect ongoing changes.
Perform detailed modeling and technical studies to evaluate asset performance, degradation, and system health.
Develop and implement engineering standards and specifications to ensure technical excellence.
Ensure all systems remain compliant with applicable codes, regulations, and internal standards.
Design and execute comprehensive preventive maintenance job plans to maximize reliability.
Develop engineering-based corrective maintenance actions for implementation by project and operations teams.
Provide expert support for troubleshooting and repair of technical issues.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for failures and recurring problems to drive continuous improvement.
Execute asset management strategies, including lifecycle evaluation, prioritization, and performance analysis.
Recommend reliability-focused projects based on system performance data and risk assessments.
Support commissioning activities to ensure equipment reliability and technical correctness.
Basic Qualifications/You will have:
Professional Engineering License (PE) in the State of Florida or in a state with reciprocity to Florida.
10 + years’ experience working in an architecture/engineering multi-discipline, technical, team environment.
Experience partnering with multiple lines of business clients and customers.
Experience balancing priorities, personnel, and partner expectations in a reactive environment, while maintaining a professional image, composure, and overall situational awareness.
Knowledge and competence in safety procedures and protocols.
Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite of applications and familiarity with Autodesk Revit and BIM360 applications.
Experience communicating sophisticated issues to non-technical peers and to executives.
Experience with team building and mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
It would be great if you also have:
Five (5) years of experience leading project or organizational teams consisting of salaried direct reports.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related degree is required
A Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or MBA is preferred.
