Job Summary
The social video editor at ESPN creates video content for all sports, across social media, optimised for Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. They create engaging social-first video content on a daily basis and they are responsible for ideation and execution. They bring fresh ideas to enhance the quality of output and engagement with the audience, conscious of data and best practice as well as having a good sporting knowledge across a broad range of sports.

This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes social video, understands the sports content landscape, and wants to push boundaries in digital storytelling. 

 
The Opportunity & Responsibilities:  

  • Edit compelling short-form videos for social media, ensuring high engagement and platform-specific optimisation. 

  • Cut and repurpose long-form footage into dynamic, bite-sized content for different platforms. 

  • Add text overlays, motion graphics, and effects to enhance video content (After Effects skills are a plus, but not required). 

  • Stay ahead of social media trends, adapting content to align with emerging formats, trends, and best practices. 

  • React quickly to breaking sports news, producing timely, high-quality content that drives conversation. 

  • Create content during live games, ensuring fans are engaged with real-time updates, highlights, and reactions. 

  • Manage and schedule content on various social media platforms as needed. 

  • Collaborate with designers and producers to maintain a cohesive visual and storytelling style. 

  • Occasionally present social-first formats or interview athletes if required (not essential). 

  • Work on a rota that includes weekends and peak sporting moments. 

The Experience We Require From You:

  • Strong video editing skills with experience in Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects is a bonus). 

  • Deep understanding of social media trends, engagement strategies and platform best practices. 

  • Passion for sports, with strong knowledge across multiple sports, especially football. 

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and react quickly to breaking stories. 

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and storytelling skills. 

  • Experience using social media analytics tools to track performance and optimise content.
