Walt Disney Imagineering UK is looking to build a local team located in London to drive the development and execution of new projects for Disney Cruise Line.  This is a great opportunity to be part of an organization supporting the efforts of building an office and team to deliver multiple projects.  This position will report to the Portfolio Executive for Project Management.

Purpose of the Role

In this newly created role, the Marine & Technical Executive will be responsible for leading new build projects and dry dock projects with accountability for overall marine and technical scope along with safety, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of nautical/marine, mechanical and electrical engineers and technical, safety and sustainability specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure a sustainable deployment of staff over multiple projects and locations.
  • Lead a continuous and constant performance management and talent development.
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the marine & technical studio that aligns with the company’s goals for innovation, safety, and sustainability.
  • Understand business drivers and market conditions in order to incorporate into plans, decision making, negotiations, and solutions for successful results
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate advanced technologies that enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.
  • Drive the adoption of green technologies and sustainable practices to minimize the environmental impact of our fleet.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of newbuild projects, refits, and major upgrades, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including technology providers, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations.
  • Develop and manage the department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive process optimisations for all Newbuild projects and locations
  • Ensure the reliable and efficient operation of all shipboard engineering systems, including propulsion, navigation, communication, and environmental control systems

Experience required

  • Technical background in the maritime industry
  • Experience leading complex new build projects and large teams

Skills required

  • Ability to lead staff, consultants, and vendors including setting clear goals and standards, delegating responsibilities effectively, prioritizing tasks, coordinating work, and managing scope, time and performance
  • Highly skilled and effective negotiator for contracts, project changes, and claims
  • Significant contract administration and claims management experience
  • Strong meeting leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, and alignment skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration, technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills that are audience appropriate

This role is based in Hammersmith 4 days a week.
