Walt Disney Japan is seeking an accomplished and passionate Corporate Communications leader to join our team as Senior Manager/Manager, Corporate Communications. This role offers a unique opportunity for a strategic and creative communications professional to help shape how one of the world’s most iconic entertainment companies is understood and trusted in Japan.

As a key member of the Corporate Communications team, you will lead high‑impact media engagement and storytelling initiatives that bring Disney’s purpose, values, and business priorities to life across our diverse portfolio. Working closely with the Head of Japan Corporate Communications, you will help strengthen corporate reputation, elevate executive thought leadership, and deliver compelling, consistent messaging across external and internal channels.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative, agile communications leader with deep experience in media relations, corporate reputation management, and internal communications. Fluency in both Japanese and English is required. Prior experience in the entertainment or media industry is strongly preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Co-lead External Communications for Walt Disney Japan, shaping and delivering an integrated external communications strategy that strengthens and protects Disney’s corporate brand and reputation—while clearly articulating Disney’s unique ecosystem, where theatrical releases, Disney+, and broader franchise touchpoints work together to create sustained audience engagement and long-term brand value.
  • Develop and execute strategic communications plans and core messaging aligned with business priorities, with a particular focus on positioning Disney+ as a central growth driver and ecosystem connector—amplifying the role of streaming in extending film franchises, deepening fandom, and driving multi-generational audience relationships.
  • Lead the execution of ongoing corporate storytelling, day-to-day communications initiatives, and key flagship programs across multiple lines of business, ensuring narratives consistently highlight how Disney’s film franchises evolve beyond theatrical windows into an integrated ecosystem spanning Disney+, consumer products, experiences, and partnerships.
  • Draft, edit, and manage approvals for a wide range of internal and external communications materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with Disney’s global brand standards.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key media, KOLs, and influencers, as well as internal stakeholders across business units, marketing, HR, partnerships, and corporate functions—proactively advancing understanding of Disney’s ecosystem model and highlighting how each business serves as a critical connection point linking content, fandom, and commercial impact across Japan.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in Corporate Communications and/or Public Relations, with demonstrated expertise across corporate brand management, executive communications, strategic media relations,  and internal communications.
  • Proven experience developing and executing complex, high‑impact communications campaigns and press events.
  • Strong experience working in a global organization, partnering with multiple stakeholders, senior leaders, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of the media and entertainment landscape, including traditional media and evolving digital and social PR channels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English, with the ability to craft compelling media pitches, press materials, speeches, reports, and executive communications.
  • Highly adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and international environment.
  • Experience collaborating with and managing external PR agencies.
  • TOEIC score of 900 or above, or equivalent demonstrated English proficiency.
