Modelers are responsible for building a variety of models to be used by disciplines along the pipeline under the direction and guidance of the department leadership.

What will you be doing?

  • Build high-quality organic and hard-surface models (creatures, vehicles, props, and sets) with minimal supervision and art direction.
  • Generate clean geometry and efficient topology to ensure all assets are production-ready.
  • Partner with Production to schedule tasks and meet internal milestones and delivery dates.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to define and execute the artistic look of an asset.
  • Work with downstream departments to identify potential bottlenecks and implement creative solutions.
  • Present work directly during dailies and reviews, articulating creative choices and incorporating feedback.

To be a contributing member of this team, you will have a mix of these skills:

  • Ability to build accurate models from varied references, including complex scans or detailed concept art.
  • Strong listening and verbal skills; ability to openly receive direction on the best approach for tasks.
  • Proactively manages and prioritizes personal tasks while providing accurate time estimates for completion.
  • Sound familiarity with shape deformation tools and how they impact rigging and animation.
  • Proficiency in Maya and ZBrush, with a willingness to learn proprietary tools.
  • A solid understanding of how modeling fits into the larger production "big picture."
  • Ability to merge technical expertise with artistic flair and a deep understanding of anatomy and form.
  • Ability to work with competency, energy, and enthusiasm within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to adapt to new workflows and develop innovative modeling techniques.
  • An excellent eye for detail, with the ability to anticipate problems and balance high-level polish with production efficiency.
  • Excellent presentation skills in dailies/ model rounds, with the ability to briefly outline progress and next steps.

Preferred Skills / Competencies

  • Experience with Modo, Mudbox, Mari, or Photoshop is beneficial.
