Reporting to the Sr Regional Security Manager (RSM), Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), this Disney Studios Australia (DSA) Security Manager position will provide oversight, assistance, and response for all security needs across the DSA lot in Sydney. This includes event security, production security, asset and content protection, investigative support, workplace security, security technology, and incident monitoring. In an emergency, the DSA Security Manager can respond, oversee and direct Disney assistance and support by providing operational capabilities, technical expertise, and policy recommendations in the performance of essential services along with TWDC Global Security internal partners, APAC business partners, third-party security vendors, law enforcement, etc.

DSA occupies a substantial 32-acre site in the center of Sydney. DSA consists of 9 world-class sound stages supported by production offices, workshops, theatres and a portfolio of around 50 supporting businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide risk assessments, plan development, vendor management, and security support for all DSA Security needs.
  • Provide immediate stabilization and management for security incidents at the Studio lot.
  • Integrate existing intelligence efforts to assess global security and geopolitical events to keep DSA operations safe, secure and resilient.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security plans for events, productions, and other operations by effectively utilizing Global Security resources and successfully collaborating with key company stakeholders, external sources, and law enforcement.
  • Engage with relevant local stakeholders and liaison with the Head of DSA for effective security support.
  • Develop/review risk assessments and security guidelines and design security plans and specialized guidance for higher-risk activities
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with internal Global Security partners and external law enforcement partners
  • Conduct and oversee security assessment program and leverage external and internal partners’ for timely threat and risk evaluations and response.
  • Ensure critical security functions are executed across the site, including, but not limited to, access control, security technology and enterprise security systems, site criticality assessment, security awareness training, etc.
  • Build and partner with the entertainment and security industry to identifying technology solutions to support security production requirements
  • Manages regional security vendors, security service providers, etc. and oversee local security hardware, access control, CCTV and keys.
  • Support the regional crisis management program which supports the Walt Disney Company in its response to a variety of emergencies and provides resources to help prepare for any kind of disaster. This includes medical emergency support, First Aid and CPR/AED trainings, disaster response, etc.
  • Escalates notification to leadership and maintains consistent communication on investigation results and remediation.
  • Support ANZ wide operations as needed particularly with TWDC events in Sydney
  • Work, Health, Safety and Risk Management

We are looking for:

  • 5 years in a private sector or public sector, security-related field.
  • Experience in the entertainment industry and working knowledge of production workflows with Studios
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation and management processes
  • Professional certifications in Security
  • Relevant Security Licenses (NSW)
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure and deadline focused environment while being able to understand, assess and prioritize business needs
  • Strong cultural awareness through experience working in and/or covering countries/regions in and around ANZ and the broader Oceania region
  • Must be prepared to travel routinely within ANZ in support of TWDC operations, and on an as needs basis throughout the rest of the Asia Pacific region. Given the scale of regional and global security operations – attendance to meetings outside of working hours may be required.
