Platform Distribution Strategy is responsible for applying ingenuity and critical thinking skills to advance the Media Networks, Direct-To-Consumer, and Digital Transactional & Home Entertainment businesses. Platform Distribution Strategy is looking for an Analyst, Business Strategy to identify, create, and evaluate sales strategies and tactics to advance the content distribution business. Working hand-in-hand with the Platform Distribution Sales teams, this Analyst will play a critical role in evaluating deal proposals and developing negotiation strategies in support of our Direct-To-Consumer service and linear network distribution with digital platforms and MVPDs. In addition, the Analyst will play a supporting role in projects that help shape Disney Platform Distribution’s long-term strategy, including evaluating new opportunities, strategic approaches, and marketplace trends.
Responsibilities:
- Support negotiations with key distribution partners by aiding in the creation of proposals, term sheets, and financial modeling in support of a multi-billion-dollar business
- Work with the Platform Distribution Sales teams in support of Pay TV / linear network, and direct-to-consumer distribution strategies representing the entire Walt Disney Company portfolio of content across sports & entertainment
- Develop network or service-focused analyses for distribution opportunities and conduct ongoing analyses around key business drivers, industry trends, new business models and strategies
- Serve as a supportive member of the team while contributing to specific skill and long-term professional development as well as fostering an inclusive team culture for learning and growth
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of content distribution and the market landscape for direct-to-consumer and MVPD businesses, and develop points of view on potential business impacts to be shared throughout the company
- Establish and maintain relationships with diverse groups of partners within Disney Platform Distribution as well as across the organization with international business teams, Legal, Finance, Network Groups, Research, Programming and broader segment to collaborate on key analyses and deal goals and help drive decisions and impact
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in a strategy, finance, or business development role
- Understanding of media industry landscape, including competitors and current trends
- Proven written, verbal, quantitative / modeling skills (including Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel)
- Ability to develop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external partners
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- BS / BA
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in investment banking, management consulting, or strategy role at a media or technology company
- Industry experience in media, technology and/or with subscription business models
- Experience in contract review and interpretation
#DISNEYPLATFORMDISTRIBUTION
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $83,200 to $111,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
