Be part of the talented team at ABC News Live, the #1 streaming news channel. We are seeking a Freelance Production Assistant – Booking to support our fast-paced newsroom and contribute to daily programming and breaking news coverage.
This role requires flexibility, including a staggered schedule with weekends, late nights, and holidays. Travel may be required as needed. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with teams across ABC News.
This job is NYC based and in office 5 days a week.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Booking Team with securing guests for daily news and feature segments, as well as breaking news coverage
- Prepare guests for appearances across various ABC News Live programs
- Pitch and thoroughly vet story ideas
- Meet and greet studio guests and complete all administrative steps for onboarding
- Gather relevant production elements from booked guests for show rundowns
- Maintain booking grids and internal databases
- Ensure guest bookings reflect diverse perspectives and represent a wide range of viewpoints
- Work collaboratively with editorial, production, and cross-functional teams
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in TV production and Journalism
- Strong editorial judgment
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Positive, can-do attitude with a strong enjoyment of problem solving
- Enjoys working on teams and has a passion for storytelling
- Comfortable working in a start-up style environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with iNews
- Familiarity with shooting on DV cameras
- Proficiency in leveraging social media platforms for sourcing and storytelling
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
The pay rate for this role in New York, NY is about $27.21 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
