Job Summary
The Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology team is seeking a Lead Product Data Analyst who excels in experimentation, advanced analytics, and data-driven strategy for digital news and entertainment products. In this pivotal role, you will partner with cross-functional teams—including Product, Engineering, Design, and Data Science—to enable robust experimentation (A/B and multivariate testing), develop actionable insights, and influence product direction. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicates complex findings clearly, thrives in collaborative environments, and is passionate about advancing user experience and business outcomes through rigorous analysis and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product Managers and cross-functional leaders to define strategic product goals, set measurable success metrics, and architect sophisticated experimentation strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
- Scope, design, and lead A/B and multivariate experiments, formulating robust hypotheses, employing advanced statistical methodologies, determining optimal sample sizes and segmentation, and establishing comprehensive measurement frameworks (including north stars, OKRs, and diagnostic metrics).
- Lead the development and documentation of test plans, data collection requirements, and experiment tracking processes; ensure integrity by cleaning and validating experimental and behavioral data for high analytical accuracy upon test completion.
- Forecast and quantify the business impact of new features and personalization initiatives—such as incremental revenue, engagement, and retention—while conducting deep-dive analyses to uncover actionable opportunities and shape product direction.
- Effectively communicate complex data and experiment results through advanced statistical techniques, compelling visualizations, and executive presentations, adapting insights for both technical and senior non-technical audiences.
- Design and maintain automated dashboards, scalable self-serve tools, and reports to monitor experiment outcomes and core business KPIs; proactively identify and resolve data gaps in partnership with Data and Engineering to improve data reliability and accessibility.
- Champion best practices in experimentation, data governance, and measurement, mentor junior analysts, and foster a culture of evidence-based decision making and continuous innovation across the organization.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in product analytics, data science, business intelligence, or a related role, with a strong focus on experimentation and analytics for digital content, news, entertainment, or streaming products.
- Advanced proficiency with SQL and experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Strong skills in experimentation (A/B and multivariate testing), statistical inference, and experiment design.
- Proficiency with Python or R for analysis and modeling.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI) and analytics platforms (e.g., Optimizely, Amplitude, Google Optimize, Adobe Target).
- Proven ability to clean, manipulate, and analyze data; to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences; and to influence product decisions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Passion for news, entertainment, or media, and a drive to enhance user experiences through data-driven experimentation and personalization.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field from a four-year accredited college or university and/or equivalent work experience.
The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
