Job Summary:

The Publishing Operations team oversees key components of Marvel’s weekly publishing schedule. The group is an integral team across the manufacturing cycle, overseeing the production of thousands of titles annually. Some of the group’s key duties include title and metadata management, manufacturing, and inventory management.

This role supports the publishing manufacturing process; working with external vendors and coordinating with internal lines of business to produce a variety of printed materials, with a focus on our trades and hardcover business. This includes the responsibility for coordinating Marvel’s weekly comic production workflow. The candidate would be responsible for tracking and following up on all stakeholder approvals before sending the books to production. And assist the shipping manager with tracking the weekly deliveries to our distributors.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate weekly manufacturing process for Marvel Publishing

• Compile and distribute weekly production schedules to partners

• Coordinate vendor bids

• Assist with daily operations of file transfer site and weekly transmission of files to printers

• Manage specifications, communications, schedules, and file submissions for international manufacturing operations

• Assist shipping manager with transportation and delivery of projects from vendor to final destination

• Quality control projects for color and printing errors and follow up with vendors as needed

• Maintain positive relationships with vendors of all printed goods, including overseas printers

• Ad Hoc work includes; troubleshooting file challenges with business owners, support on Custom Publishing projects

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 1+ experience with a general understanding of the marketing, promotions, publishing, and/or licensing business

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral

• Proficiency in MS Office

• Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, handling several projects at once

• Possession of a strong work ethic and a high level of confidentiality

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Job-related experience within the publishing or printing industry

• Excellent negotiation skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to self-start

• Ability to work well under pressure and handle the production of multiple titles simultaneously

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to independently set and adjust multiple priorities

• Interest in comics publishing preferred but not required


The hiring range for this position in New York is $44,200.00 - $60,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
