About the Role & Team

Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) team oversees the Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s (TWDC) best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.

The Partner Growth team is an impactful team responsible for ongoing partner management, strategic assessments, and valuations of growth opportunities with potential new and existing partners for Disney’s DTC businesses (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Star+ and Bundles). The team partners with key stakeholders in setting the growth strategy and prioritization for all partner types: Global Distribution, Regional Distribution and Wholesale, Promotional and Synergy.

The Partner Growth team takes a holistic approach to partners and this role requires curiosity, eagerness to learn and collaboration cross-functionally with partners such as: Product, Technology, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Regional Business Teams to help the DTC businesses achieve financial and performance goals.

What You Will Do

The Partner Growth team is seeking a Sr Business Development Manager to focus on strategic performance assessments and valuations of growth opportunities with new and existing partners. Using data, insights, and financial modeling, they will quantitatively evaluate opportunities to gain, engage, and retain subscribers. Critical thinking to support financial goals is essential, and they should be a data-focused self-starter driving growth initiatives by translating data into business insights and actions. They are expected to own and drive analyses and deep-dive projects from inception to final deliverables, working autonomously and through ambiguity to provide clear, concise outputs and recommendations.

Reporting into the Sr. Manager, Business Development – Partner Growth, the Sr Business Development Manager will have a solid understanding of the device and OTT landscape, analytical skills (working with KPI's, investigating data trends, etc.), financial modeling skills and have experience translating financial models and numbers into narratives. They also will regularly provide materials for DTC Leadership and will have opportunities for exposure to (and to contribute to) executive-level discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining financial models for partner opportunities (including potential new partners, new business models, existing partner deal renewals etc.)

  • Strategic analyses on critical business questions around topics including sign up, engagement and churn trends and platform / product features and capabilities

  • Rigorously analyze partner performance and contribute to regular updates to internal stakeholders using consistent partner tracking. Partner with the data org to understand methodologies, contribute to roadmap planning, and understand all the nuances to our data

  • Build well-organized presentations, including for presentation to senior leadership, explaining complex situations clearly and simply

  • Use data insights, market trends and internal perspective to drive individual partner success; regularly ideate/update long-term plans for partners

  • Evaluation of new partnership opportunities, including near-term partnerships and long-term entrance and participation in new verticals

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Be curious - identify data trends and anomalies and turn them into deep-dive analyses to better understand trends across regions, products and partners

  • At least 6+ years’ experience in Finance, Strategy or Business Development,

  • Advanced Financial Modeling skills

  • Data analysis proficiency

  • Experience translating financial models and numbers into narratives

  • Experience leading cross-functional strategic analyses

  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal daily supervision

  • Skilled in balancing multiple requests, maintaining organization, and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in common reporting tools including Tableau and Looker

  • Experience in Media/Technology or relevant subscription business

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or equivalent years of technical experience in product, media, video streaming, or a related technical field


The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $129,000.00 to $172,900.00 and in Santa Monica, CA is $123,000.00 to $165,000.00 per year and in San Francisco, CA is $134,800.00 to $180,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
