About the Role & Program:
The Domestic Theatrical Sales and Distribution department is seeking a Sales Intern who will make important contributions and be an outstanding addition to our team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the film industry by supporting our team domestically in managing and maximizing the distribution of our feature films.
The Sales Intern will play a strong supporting role in projects that will assist the theatrical sales team’s vital operational and administrative tasks in addition to sales responsibilities for defined territories. The right person for this role has proven organization, communication and analytical skills and is an individual that can grow to manage various responsibilities including developing relationships with internal/external partners, managing processes, and ensuring policy compliance. Finally, they/she/he thinks big, learns quickly, and approaches everything with enthusiasm.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding solution-oriented, problem-solving skills to create mutually beneficial outcomes for The Walt Disney Company and will possess strong acumen in the distribution landscape. This internship is a full-time, three-month commitment in the NY, NY area from June – August 2026.
What You Will Do:
As a Sales Intern in the Theatrical Sales and Distribution department, you will assist with tasks that contribute to the successful launch and distribution of our films. Your role will involve conducting research, tracking box office trends, preparing presentations & reports, and supporting the team in day-to-day operations. This is a fantastic chance to build your knowledge of film distribution while developing your professional skills in a creative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:
You’ll support the sales team by monitoring receivables, payables, box office reports and daily administrative operations and provide sales support by monitoring exhibitor show times & ticket prices while assisting in analyzing box office data to identify trends and insights for current and upcoming releases with territory-specific responsibilities and special projects. On any given day, you might:
- Assist in sales/collections responsibilities.
- Support the Sales team with entry and analysis of flash grosses, box office reports and accounts receivables.
- Monitor industry performance and compile reports and summaries for the team and internal partners.
- Help organize meetings and provide administrative support, such as preparing agendas, expense reports and maintaining files.
- Shadow team members to gain an understanding of distribution workflows and industry practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Ability to quickly learn our studio-based data systems (Ensemble and TVM), as well as third-party systems like ComScore, Webedia and EntTelligence.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while negotiating & dealing with deadlines.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to work well in a team environment.
- Excellent analytical and research skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and switch smoothly from one project to another while dealing effectively with pressure and short timelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Strong passion for the entertainment industry and an interest in film distribution.
- Prior experience in entertainment or media.
Education
- Currently pursuing a degree in Film, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Preferred Junior or Senior.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.
Additional Information:
- The approximate dates of this internship are June through August 2026.
- Candidate must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule and available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship.
- Able to provide own housing and transportation in the NY, NY area.
The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
