About the Role:
As a Business Affairs Manager at The Walt Disney Company, you will play a crucial role in negotiating and finalizing a significant volume of agreements within tight deadlines for our Disney+ streaming platform. You will be part of the Original Productions and Acquisitions teams, working closely with production companies and external content providers. Your role is vital in ensuring the successful negotiation of agreements that align with Disney's values and standards.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating commercial agreements with production companies and content providers, focusing on original French productions and pre-purchases for Disney+. You will work with executive producers, delegated producers, co-producers, and licensors to negotiate terms for original productions, co-productions, and pre-purchases. Additionally, you will handle negotiations with talents managed by production companies, ensuring the implementation of best practices in line with Disney EMEA standards. Your role is crucial in maintaining consistent production conditions and meeting local regulatory investment obligations.
Collaborate with creative and production heads during negotiations and project greenlight stages.
Lead negotiations with producers and their legal and business affairs departments to finalize agreements within creative, budgetary, and timeline constraints.
Facilitate communication between creative, legal, commercial, and other relevant departments and production companies to ensure clear and effective translation of production and creative requirements.
Create and update standard deal memos for original productions, talent contracts, and coordinate information flow with internal departments: Creative Services, Finance, Production, Legal, Marketing, Ad Sales, etc.
Manage interactions with international legal and business affairs teams to continuously develop best practices and establish acceptable precedents.
Ensure compliance with company standards in production and pre-purchase agreements to maintain consistent production conditions and meet local regulatory investment obligations.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in negotiating and drafting complex production agreements.
Strong understanding of production, co-production, and pre-purchase agreements, talent contracts, and rights chains.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trustful collaborations with producers and production studios.
Solid knowledge of the European and French regulatory environment, including broadcasting quotas and investment obligations, especially for SVOD and linear services.
Experience with public funding and French tax credits, and various production structures.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Law or related field.
7+ years of experience in negotiating original audiovisual production agreements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the media and entertainment industry, particularly in streaming services.
Advanced degree in Business Law or related field.
Proficiency in multiple languages, particularly French and English
