Job Summary:

ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking a dynamic and enterprising reporter dedicated to covering the Inland Empire. Based in Riverside-San Bernardino Counties, this self-starting journalist will play a vital role in reporting on and representing this important area. The ideal candidate must be a great storyteller, content creator and collaborator who knows how to present active and engaging live shots and be endlessly creative on all platforms. This reporter works to build meaningful relationships with leaders, newsmakers and community organizations in the Inland Empire, regularly generating unique and exclusive story ideas. Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects based on resources, deadlines and daily news demands. Ability to shoot, edit and publish is a plus.  

This role is considered on-site in our Riverside County Bureau. 

Responsibilities

  • Exceptional reporting, writing and interviewing skills
  • Expertly handle live breaking news and event coverage  
  • Deliver active, engaging live shots that stand out in competitive market
  • Build meaningful sources and relationships in the Inland Empire to generate unique and exclusive story ideas
  • Active use of social media for promotion and news gathering
  • Participate in community and station public events 

Basic Qualifications

  • Multiple market experience. 
  • Must be a strong journalist and storyteller. 
  • Must have excellent time and resource management ability
  • Must have schedule flexibility and ability to work holidays. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to shoot, edit and publish
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere and Dalet
  • Bilingual preferred 

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $120,000 to $145,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
