Job Summary:

Summary

This position is a cross divisional role supporting multiple business units. The selected candidate will primarily provide legal advice for The Walt Disney Company Korea’s business operations.

 

The role will also involve offering legal support, as needed, to other business segments, including Consumer Products, Games & Publishing, Film Distribution, and Disney+ Content Production. In addition, the candidate will draft and review agreements related to promotional and marketing activities across physical and digital channels, provide strategic legal counsel to senior executives and key stakeholders on potential risks and legal matters, and deliver general legal support for the company’s overall operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance

    - Review and analyze regulatory requirements applicable to the company’s business operations in Korea.

    - Provide legal advice and prepare responses to inquiries, investigations, and requests from government and regulatory authorities.

    - Monitor changes in laws and regulations and assess potential impact on business operations.

  • Commercial & Corporate Legal Support

    - Provide legal support for general business operations, including marketing, sales, and promotional activities.

    - Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, partnership, service, and distribution agreements.

    - Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and compliance considerations in day-to-day business activities.

  • Contract Drafting & Legal Documentation
    - Draft, review, and interpret a wide range of agreements, including licensing agreements, promotion and marketing agreements, NDAs, distribution campaign agreements, and service agreements.
    - Prepare and review memos, correspondence, and provide legal advice on copyright and intellectual property-related matters.

  • Business Contract Negotiation
    - Prepare and review memos, correspondence, and provide legal advice on copyright and intellectual property-related matters.

  • Corporate Legal Advisory and Litigation management
    - Advise senior management on legal and regulatory issues impacting corporate operations in Korea.
    - Monitor legal developments and assess risks affecting business strategy and daily operations.
    - Manage litigation and other legal disputes as they arise.

  • Collaboration Across APAC
    - Work closely with other members of Disney’s Legal Department to provide legal support for business activities in Korea and other Asia-Pacific regions.
    - Coordinate with regional legal teams to ensure consistent legal positions across markets.


Requirements:

  • Legal Qualification: Korea Bar Licensed attorney

  • Fluent in Korean and business proficiency in English.

  • At least 3 years of post-qualification legal experience in a mid-to-large law firm, a major Korean corporation, or a foreign-invested company (combined experience acceptable; position level may be adjusted based on total experience)

  • Preferred experience in providing legal advice on regulatory matters such as the Fair-Trade Act, the Personal Information Protection Act, and other compliance-related laws

  • Experience advising corporate law and intellectual property regimes, particularly copyright, trademark, and unfair competition laws, preferred

  • Experience working with U.S.-based multinational companies and familiarity with their legal and business practices preferred

  • Ability to quickly understand and stay current on emerging business models and legal trends in the film, television, new media (OTT platform), and entertainment industries

  • Strong work ethics, high integrity, and professionalism

  • Excellent analytical skills and sound legal judgment

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within the legal team and across business units

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment

  • Excellent ability to adapt quickly to new regulatory environments
