About the Role
The Assistant Manager, Category Management for Hardlines/ Toys will be responsible for managing key licensing partners within the hardlines & toys category, and driving retail strategy and partnerships across Singapore & Malaysia.
Working closely with licensees and internal cross-functional teams, this role will look at licensing, retail, and brand strategy—owning the portfolio of key accounts while also driving end-to-end category growth through both licensee and retailer partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Commercial Growth & Account Management
- Develop and implement account strategies to drive revenue growth and category expansion.
- Manage and develop relationships with global, regional and local licensees within the hardlines category.
- Deliver annual revenue & targets for the accounts managed
- Identify new product opportunities, retail channels, and market partnerships to expand the hardlines & toys business in Singapore & Malaysia
- Monitor sales performance and provide recommendations to optimize product assortment and retail presence.
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned accounts, ensuring alignment on business objectives and licensing strategies.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews, track royalty reporting, and support licensees on contractual commitments.
Marketing Activation
- Plan and execute retail campaigns and consumer activations in collaboration with licensees and retail partners.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of product launches and activations i.e. secure placement, POSM rollouts and in-store activation opportunities, for the Toys category in key retailers.
Expand Retail & Channel Opportunities
- Take on an expanded scope in retailer management, identifying and unlocking incremental growth opportunities across retail channels.
- Build and manage relationships with key retailers to strengthen in-store presence, visibility, and sell-through.
- Identify new retail partnerships, formats, and distribution opportunities to expand category reach.
Internal Coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams including marketing, retail, and product development teams to ensure successful execution of strategies
- Track project timelines and ensure licensees deliver products and activations in accordance with agreed plans.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in account management, licensing, retail, or consumer products.
- Experience working with brand licensing, consumer products, distributors or retail partners is preferred.
- Commercially driven with strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience operating in a matrix environment and working across multiple markets is a strong plus.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
